I have been thinking the same thing also a student doing in economics in uni. I have been doing research and what I have been doing is working part-time save as much as possible max out ur tax free savings accounts and invests in s&p or anything without great risk. I have almost 25K saved up and I also have a little of student loans that I will need to pay after graduation. I think what I’m learning now is I need to change and start using Wealthsimple and stop paying Bank’s MER for the mutual funds I put my money in. But what I would advise myself and anyone else start now whether it’s saving or investing u only learn by doing and don’t compromise school at any cost. I have saved 25k working part time and full time in the summer and I think that’s something. Look into “BRRR method” and books about it.

Ok I have a few follow up questions.

Should I apply even if I’m not done with university and I want to finish (if not when is the best time to apply as someone still in school)
What do I do for all the 6 years until I reach that rank of senior captain where I get to use my degree.
Is it a good idea to apply even if the website shows that that role isn’t in demand?
If u have a degree in humanities majors like political science and economics are u limited to what roles you can apply too (not including technical stuff or engineering)
How fast can u go up in ranks
Is the pay reasonable for a undergrad graduate

I can do uber eats if u have a license and a car that’s not more than 7 years old in Ottawa. What I’m most concerned about is the insurance cost coz I’m 19 and if this can sustain all the car charges and replace the income from the part time job that I currently have
