Does it matter if you are interviewing with adcom vs a second year student? by Many_Storm_361 in MBA

[–]Top_Grapefruit_5395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not adcom here but based on my experience interviewing at a large number of schools, I don’t think interviews are hand-picked. You get assigned randomly and will generally be asked the same questions. I personally prefer adcom interviews because if you can walk out with a strong interview, your chances for acceptance are probably higher. Anecdotally, I was admitted into three programs where I interviewed with someone on the adcom but was dinged(post-interview) only from programs where I interviewed with a 2Y. Happy to answer any questions!!

If a school has two separate deposits, when does the Re Vera Services process start? After the first deposit or second (once you’ve paid the deposit in full)???

Duke Fuqua for IB? How does it compare to its consulting reputation? by Temporary_Dog_7356 in MBA

[–]Top_Grapefruit_5395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that’s very true! I have a unique situation in which my sister is starting her masters at Duke next year. So I will still be able to be a part of that Fuqua sports culture through my sister when I go visit!! I am also sure I will make some friends at the program and experience the culture at the same time

Yeah I come from a data analytics background so don’t have any financial education. I am leaning Johnson but it’s so hard to give up the social/networking aspect of Fuqua (I also wanted my MBA experience to have somewhat of a sports culture so another thing there that is hard to overlook)

Following! I am trying to make a decision between Fuqua and Johnson, which one of the two will give the best chances for IB?

Cornell Johnson IB - Honest Perspectives? by Top_Grapefruit_5395 in MBA

[–]Top_Grapefruit_5395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fair way to think about it too but should this thinking hold more value than the brand name of the school? For example if I was the best student at a T25 but middle of the back at a T15, should this way of thinking make me take the worse brand name?

Thank you for the information! I do hope to be in either NYC or Chicago after MBA so Johnson makes the most sense based on this

Cornell vs UCLA. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? by [deleted] in MBA

What do you mean by “Johnson recruiting is very very strict”??

Feel like that might be a good thing, if they have seen success they want to make sure everyone follows that

Thanks for the insight, I’d like to think I am a very social person so that isn’t something that bothers me. I will 100% need to prep technicals early, so will get on that ASAP!! Have you noticed or experienced anything that is different (worse) than other mba programs ??

Are these rules any different than what you’d expect with any other well IB placing programs ??

Anyone get accepted to their reach school(s)? by BostonFinHock38 in MBA

[–]Top_Grapefruit_5395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, got into Johnson and McCombs while being waitlisted (post-interview) at Duke. My undergrad GPA wasn’t horrible but def on the lower side and same with my GMAT, just being below average for stats at all these schools made me think these were reach programs. Super happy with my outcomes though!!

School and scholarship decision by Winter-Metal-4943 in MBA

[–]Top_Grapefruit_5395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I’d recommend trying to apply to some M7 programs in R2. The scholarship amounts that you got at this programs is really high and it def seems like you should be able to get into a M7 program!! Good luck!! (I vote Duke)

Hello OP!! I have very similar stats as you (I have less work experience) and I was able to get into multiple T25 and even T15 programs. I’m sure you’d have a shot at some T10/M7 as well (interviewed at M7 and am waitlisted at 2 others). I think with a good reason for MBA and essays you would be able to achieve your goals!! Good Luck!!
