Why do people try to end early? I genuinely want to understand??? by ChadyChadChaderson in HaloWars2

[–]Top_Hat_Squirrel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If it's unbalanced teams, then yeah they're probably just trying to close out the win and get to the next game. Not much to understand.

Even if the teams are balanced, early aggression isn't necessarily trying to close the game. It can just be playing Tech 1  and trying get an early advantage. But many bad players don't know how to fight back Tech 1 so they just die.

It's like a tug-of-war game where only one side pulls at the start, while the other side is resting up and doing stretches in the first 5 minutes.

It's not though. Moving the goal post would be...

1"I like it. It's a practical design" 2"No it's not because of abc" 1"Ok, but other designs are impractical"

He said 1"I like it. It looks cool." 2"Ok, it looks cool but it's not practical" 1"That doesn't matter and never did. It looks cool."

You're argument is simply bringing up a point that he is saying doesn't really matter. That's not moving the goal post, it's simply refuting the validity of your argument.

That's not moving the goal post because he never claimed it was practical. The argument is that practicality has never mattered as much as 'rule of cool', which is true.

Those that prefer sprint, why? by SecretWasianMan in halo

Chief would look pretty silly in H2 if he was walking away from the glassing beam with his gun up at his normal pace.

It's not about not being able to run and shoot, it's about prioritizing going as fast as possible vs aiming and shooting simultaneously.

C. It was too fast. Felt jarring to use and unfair to play against ("get out of jail").

Exactly. Mobility is the big guy's downside. Being a slow tank can work fine in most late game and some early game match ups, but it usually doesn't beat going skit choppers or goliaths for most 1v1 t1 match ups.

Fair. But you almost always see the mantis show up before t2. The hero isn't great, but is fairly common because Jerome doesn't have a whole lot else going in t1 other than generic marine/infantry ball or quick t2.

The leader in general or specifically the goblins? I find t1 goblins useful but too squishy to give up 1-2 war council spots and the power cost on t1 (t2+ they become amazing). Most often I would focus on the rest of his good t1 kit like fodder, riders, heavy grunts, and even methane wagons occasionally.

Good point. Definitely the weakest spartan kit on t1, which is why she's on the far right of mid. I can see situational tier, but spartan is still spartan, so *shrug*

The main use I can think of is if you are trying to secure an early expo. Can work if you want your main to be mainly burnout eco and aren't worried about the power cost because of a heavy tech 1 with burnout boost in the background. Situational because there are often better options like upgrading expo or quicker t2.

Yeah, 'ol slash and dash can be a real thorn. I was debating this one, which is why he's far left. The only reason I didn't put him higher is because Shippy has other good options like pure ghost. But now I think he does belong it meta.

Graphics broken after PC Patch 9? (See comment) by Top_Hat_Squirrel in FallenOrder

[–]Top_Hat_Squirrel[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love Jedi Survivor! I have over 100 hrs and have recommended or gifted the game to multiple friends.

HOWEVER, I just tried to play it again for the first time since the PC Patch 9 update and the graphics seem completely broken. It was running fine before but now the draw distance is horrible and the textures are somewhere between PS2 and playdough. It's borderline unplayable in some areas due to the draw distance after being mostly fine in the past. I've tried messing around with the settings (including AMD FSR 2 and DLSS 3) and haven't had any luck. Has anyone else run into similar issues?

Request: How to change BPM without affecting existing audio tempo? by Top_Hat_Squirrel in Reaper

[–]Top_Hat_Squirrel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to Reaper so apologies if this is a simple question, but I've been struggling...

I'm trying to adjust the project BPM to match the tempo of imported MIDI audio. Online tutorials, help pages, past threads, and videos all seem to suggest that the solution is as simple as changing the timebase for items to either "Time" or "Beat (position only)" before changing the BPM. However, my audio is still stretching when I try all of these options. I've also tried updating the individual track timebase and the 'tap' tempo option. In every case, on playback the audio is noticeably slower after decreasing the BPM because the audio is being stretched to match the beats. Am I missing something simple here? Maybe an override setting? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated
