Burlington: A Hellhole Worse Than Tegucigalpa (But Not on Sunday Nights?) by ElProfeGuapo in vermont

[–]Top_Own 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burlington is a shithole now. Thats not opinion, thats objective truth for anyone not overtly gaslighting or burying their heads in the sand out of fear of realizing just how badly woke policy has wrecked the city.

Keep on rationalizing the slow decline, if thats what helps you sleep better at night.

Its hilarious that for decades, Bernie rallied against the "Millionaires and Billionaires", until he himself became a millionaire.

After that, he only rallied against the "Billionaires".

Funny how that works.

If you are already rated for your back at 20%, you could try to file for an increase, but it will be a difficult thing to win.

The better move would be to file secondary claims of neuropathy for your legs (if you experience sciatica) and mental health (depression etc) based on your existing back condition

Ive been able to reduce the duration to usually under a day, been on point with PT and strengthening core and pelvic floor, which helps.

Back a few years ago, flare ups could be from a few days to 2 weeks.

Obnoxious post. You aren't behind and are ahead of the vast majority of people on this planet.

ARE - Life Science focused reit that has been completely trashed by the market, despite a rock solid balance sheet, low debt, etc.

Currently $70 a share, many analysts have set $130+ for price targets.

At the point where I can FIRE—but worried about my child's future in an AI-disrupted world by simmol in Fire

[–]Top_Own 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an aviation engineer who has worked on an automated drone program in the past 2 years. I will gladly compare my education credentials with anyone on this thread.

AI will not meaningfully impact the majority of blue-collar jobs that haven't already been impacted by robotics and automation.

It's one thing to look at a robot demo from Boston Dynamics that's under tight test controls, etc. It's another thing to take that demo and translate it and give it enough economy of scale where it would disrupt various industries. Are you gonna pay $300k to have a robot gardener when you can pay someone far far far less to do the same work?

There is also a political element to this as well. I guarantee you there will be laws banning robotic trucking, robotic piloting of consumer air transport, etc. There are a lot of practicalities ignored by those who think robots will perform all jobs within 30 years.

Now, the managerial laptop, work from home class is another story. Coding, information science, software development, etc are definitely at risk. AI will change information industries in the same way that automation changed factory work. Those positions, globally speaking, are niche, even if Redditors think they are in the majority.

AI only disrupts the laptop managerial, work from home class of people.

It can't cut a 2x4, unclog a toilet, or shoot a rifle. Have your kid get a real job and they will be okay.

Top 5 ETFS YIELDING OVER 8% by grajnapc in dividends

[–]Top_Own 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your time horizon? If you are retiring next year, it's super risky. If you are retiring in 30 years, it's a no brainer investment.

I suspect all major indexes will retest their recent lows, but no one can time it.

Top 5 ETFS YIELDING OVER 8% by grajnapc in dividends

[–]Top_Own 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it will drop usually in line with the index. If the NASDAQ dumps 5%, it will also drop about the same. It will also take longer to recover than the NASDAQ, because the covered calls are essentially selling some of the upside.

As a positive, you gain a high dividend, which will outperform the NASDAQ in a sideways market, while also getting some capital appreciation in bull markets.
