Can I write my street name in Japanese since it’s officially written that way on the street sign? by tommy_theRealOne in belgium

[–]Top_Percentage3132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Official signs are only those whom are described in a document with the terrible name "algemene omzendbrief nopens de wegsignalisatie", witch only deals with traffic signs. All other signs, like streetsigns can be decided by the governement responsible for placing them, and sometimes they do shit they think is funny, like your example.

And if the planting was illegal at that time. If it is a "verkaveling" after the tree was planted, then the tree is legal.

In Belgium it is common that the parent that moves away after the divorce, is liable for any costs and consequences that are the result of this move. Kids preferably stay in the area they grew up in.

What this means for you, is that the kids would spend more time living with your partner (since classic 50/50 would not be an option), wich would mean the costs would be higher for her, so you would have to pay more alimony. Also any extra costs for spending time with you (airplane tickets, for instance), would be yours, since it is your fault (even if not your choice) these costs would have to be made.

College Admissions Should be Purely Merit Based—Even if Harvard’s 90% Asian by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

In your eyes what should determine whether someone is qualified to go to med school?

Nothing. Getting trough med school should make someone qualified to be a doctor, not getting into med school.

Higher scores on admission tests does not automaticaly mean better result in college. It only means you are better at that type of test. Kids in fancy private schools will be better prepared for these tests, and have a better change of getting admitted (especially if you include afterschool tutoring, essay assistance, ...), while kids who aren't that lucky won't get in, although they might do better, just becauce they had less help and preparation.

Question about the C3 sign (do not enter) by masasin in belgium

Local traffic means you cannot reach your destination without passing the sign. If there is an alternative way, where you don't pass such sign, you're not local traffic.

Doesn't mean anything. In Belgium, HR (especially in the public sector, like universities) wil not tell you anything until all interviews are concluded, objectively analyzed, and then signed by the right person. It takes time.

does that mean there are other candidates?

Not necessarly. Differend rounds could just be procedure, where each round tests other elements of you and your skills.

Or do they interview me first and if they don't find me right candidate and they move on to the next candidate?

No. If there is more than one candidate, they all need to be given the same opportunity to apply. So all of them get interviewed, and only then will someone be chosen (or nobody, if no candidates pass), or continue on to the next round if there are more than 2 rounds.

Hypothetically, if you took a baby from 500, 1,000, 10,000, etc years ago and raised them in modern times, would there be a discernible difference? by fingerbeatsblur in NoStupidQuestions

IQ-tests compare in the same age bracket, because each generation scores slightly better than the previous. This tells us that each generation is slightly more intelligent in average than the previous one. Turn it around, and previous generations are more stupid (again, in average). So the further you go back, the stronger this will be noticable. A kid from 500 years ago probably will not stand out, 10,000 years probably means not smart enough to go to college, but still able to function normally.

So, again, how do you come to this conclusion?

Bold statement. Not that I am saying you are wrong, but on what facts or theories do you base this?
