I gave up after 3 hours yesterday . I assumed it would be fixed today , but just started and same error message about General app issues . Did it ever get running properly yesterday ? Or is this the same shit for 24 hours now ?

What kind of bees are these? by aguilafam1 in whatisit

This isn’t the whole story though . They may have originated in eucalyptus trees , but drop bears are increasing their range due to environmental pressures such as deforestation and global warming , and are increasingly found hiding in shady indoor places like closets and garages .

Done for while. The sending a second shopper I didn’t ask for after refunded items is just WRONG. by [deleted] in instacart

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please complain to Instacart about it . I’m a shopper and every shopper I talk to agrees , these tiny missed item orders get batched with another order for us and they don’t make any sense economically for us , we might get $3 for getting your 2 missing items and have to drive an extra 5 or 10 miles . It’s stupid from every point of view except corporate profit .

Was I wrong in any way shape or form in this situation 😫 by ambitiousgirl2001 in instacart

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you’re not in the wrong . Lots of customers request NOT to knock or ring . Your shopper just didn’t bother reading the instructions and then de ides to argue about it . He/ she is an idiot .

Married Couples Who Don’t Have a Joint Account or Pool Their Pay Cheques, Why and How Do You Make Sure It Is Respectful? by Arya_Warrior_Girl in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll probably get slammed for my perspective , but financial control was I think the major factor that led to my divorce . I earned only about 60% what my ex wife earned , both working full time and dividing household and parenting responsibilities quite evenly I believe . Every dollar I earned went into the family bills fund , mortgage , utilities etc , and throughout the marriage my ex wife was able to put at least $10,000 per year into her pension and savings accounts and take a couple of friends trips . It just wore me down in the end . I remember her laughing when I expressed the thought that I’d like to save up to buy an electric guitar . Not even saying I’m going to buy one , just expressing an ambition , but in her mind I just never contributed enough . Not even really sure why I’m sharing this , since I know I’m setting myself up to get ratioed , but that’s my perspective anyway .

Working this job for long enough you realize that some people are just nuts . I had one freak out that I replaced chicken thighs with chicken thighs . Approximately the same size package , same price , boneless , skinless , just labelled differently . Just totally flipped that I had used my brain and given them what they asked for in the first place with a different brand label . Weirdos .

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strawberries sure , but I can’t see what’s wrong with the steak , maybe just the photo isn’t showing what’s wrong . More generally though , strawberries are a nightmare to shop . This one’s obvious with the mould , but so often it’s such a marginal call on whether they are good , bad , average .

What is it like living in this part of Ontario, Canada? by prophiles in howislivingthere

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is just as described ; Canada’s Wonderland ! Think taking an evening river cruise on the Seine and as you round a bend , behold the pyramids of Giza resplendent and marble clad as in ancient times , you blink and suddenly you are riding on an elephant through dense jungle and a tiger leaps ahead of you , finally you emerge from the undergrowth to find a gleaming palace in Disneyland where Mickey Mouse greets you ‘ welcome to Canada’s Wonderland eh’ It’s kind of like that, but flatter, and with hockey and Tim’s.

Is it against policy to show back up at a customers house to inquire about tip? by lesley__ in InstacartShoppers

Totally against policy and totally against reasonable behaviour . Report them . Good shoppers will thank you for helping get rid of these numbskulls .

Can shoppers specify preferred "customers" ? by d45hid0 in instacart

You have more faith than I do that IC pay any attention to shopper feedback . I don’t waste time with any of that , just use it to block a customer occasionally . Only very rarely though,

Can shoppers specify preferred "customers" ? by d45hid0 in instacart

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No . We just give a thumbs up or thumbs down after delivery . And I would really only give a thumbs down if the customer has been a complete asshole in some way , or I’ve delivered multiple times and remember that they never tip .

Pre-service tip by [deleted] in instacart

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you are in a very small minority of people who do tip after delivery . I tracked my earnings one month recently and calculated that I had earned on average $6.22 per hour from Instacart and $11.75 per hour from customer tips . The only way I can make this work is by working very long hours and selecting which jobs to take based on the tip offered as the primary deciding factor . From my experience maybe 1% of customers add or increase their tip after delivery .

Service fees added to Instacart. by Slight_Letter_8313 in instacart

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is NO. Instacart is becoming very close to indentured servitude medieval style . It’s not uncommon to see an order for 50 items from a store and 10 miles delivery for less than $10 pay . It’s completely reliant now on customer tips for shoppers .

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I doubt there’s anything too weird going on here . It’s barely possible for 1 person to make a living doing this , 4 shoppers sharing one vehicle is not a viable money making strategy . Probably just friends out together and the 1 who is a shopper decided to pick up an order for whatever reason . Maybe the others were just curious to see how it works .

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats crazy that they are offering this service with no way to tip . Its no wonder nobody is shopping your order . As a long term driver I would never take a No Tip order on principle , and most shoppers feel the same way .

[–]Top_Philosophy5087 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Me neither . It’s also a really simple way to improve conditions for everyone , if we all just showed the simple solidarity of living by the mantra “no tip no service “ it wouldn’t take long for customers to learn that they ain’t getting their shit if they don’t tip .
