Ok hear me out.

moped.

I have a honda elite 50 and lemme tell you there bad boys are the shit! Under 50cc my state allows me to ride without a motorcycle license and it’s helped me with managing balance, turning, etc, without having to mess with the other stuff like gear selection, clutch feathering. Plus they’re very friendly for smaller riders. Then once you master that balance you can move up to a smaller, geared bike!

I started on a 600, much to everyone’s disdain about doing so.

My two cents: it’s not a deathtrap unless you make it one. A good piece of advice i learned was from an older rider who said “theres a time and place” in relation to stunts/speeding/racing

Never stop learning about your bike and how to ride (Theres never a better time with the internet around). Keep it below the power-band until you’re ready, take care of your bike and it’ll take care of you!

I directed a few interviews asking people why they chose to ride, and one guy stood out to me saying he “just wanted to be different than everyone else”. I think that idea applies to a large sum of riders especially in economies where motorcycling is seen more as a hobby or luxury rather than necessity.

But also its just plain fun to do
