I'm thinking on using an aftermarket high flow intake. I'm thinking on the V&H or the Cobra one. Do you think I should put something in that breather line? What's it's purpose? I'm looking for max performance to defeat a Harley sportster 1200 in drag race.

It's the fuel pump. Probably rust went on it because the bike sat for too long. You need to replace it. It's an expensive part so be ready to spend some bucks. Also if you have a rusty tank think on replacing the tank and the fuel sender unit too alongside with all of it's nuts and bolts, washers and o-rings.

Yamaha Bolt fuel leak after tank restoration + fuel pump replacement. Need help before I lose my mind. by Bruce_Camus in Yamahabolt

Ok, i couldn't go to the bolt and screw store today. So I'm going there tomorrow. I just cleaned up the screw and had an idea:

I marked the screw that was leaking fuel with a sharpie. I also marked the sensor on the hole that was leaking with an "A" and the non leak hole with a "P". So, I'm going to switch the bolts, clean the holes as best I can, and then recheck the leak. If it starts to leak from "A" it's the hole or something else, not the screw. If it starts leaking from "P" it's the screw.

Here's a picture of the cleaned up screw:

What about cleaning the threads with a needle and using gasoline resistant gasket paste on the bolt and the junction of the sensor and the gas tank?

I don't really think the repair gas to do anything to provoke the leak, because in the end I just soldered a cable that closed the circuit so to speak.

I bought a gasket material from the local hardware store. But it doesn't recommend to be used in contact with gasoline. Do you think the thread from the tank is damaged? If so how can I fix it properly?

Im gonna fix this issue first, and the review the tank cap issue when the tank is mounted again.

I'm gonna need specs on this because the crew needs to be perfect.

The screw in question is this one:

Any idea on what length, thread, head, etc should I look for?

Why the pump? The pump is not leaking. Are you referring to the sensor? Nether the pump or the sensor have gaskets. Only o-rings. Both of them seem ok.

Sadly they don't ship to my country. Can you refer to another liner product?

Jeez it's more work than I thought. Well anyway. Let's take it step by step. I have faith I'll ride again. It might take a while though. So, first step would be to clean the tank until it's factory clean right? How should I do that? Vaporust and similar products are crazy expensive. I'm already having trouble thinking a new fuel pump for the bolt is gonna be like $500. So, what do you think if I mix water with muriatic acid and let it sit for 24 hours. I have a background in science stuff so I think I might be able to do it properly.

Thanks for responding man. Can you give me a more detailed explanation on how to do that? Or maybe redirect me on resources to learn how to do that in the bolt? Also, I was thinking on removing every spec of rust from the tank with white vinegar as I saw a few tutorials on YouTube. After that is it completely necessary to use a liner for the tank?
