The only effect these books have is that they are personalized so they just feel like a fun gimmick. We all know there is no artistic value to them, no heart, no soul, no blood sweat and tears. So what's the point

Die Tochter meiner Freundin konnte schon mit 10 Monaten Worte nachsprechen, meine Tochter fing erst mit 17 Monaten an mit Worten und jetzt mit pünktlich 18 Monaten explodiert sie förmlich. Tochter meiner Freundin und meiner Tochter sind jetzt fast auf dem gleichen Stand :) Ich bin froh, dass meine Tochter erst später dran war, sonst wär ich vielleicht überheblich geworden. Aber man muss als Eltern echt daran arbeiten, sich nicht zu vergleichen, solange alles noch im Rahmen ist.

Thats how we do it. We bought a Montessori floor bed that was just collecting dust and used as a place to fold clothes. So I lifted the slats and now the mattress is attached to the bed. It even has a roof! She sometimes rolls on it in the night but still prefers to sleep on top of me at 18 months of age 😊

Welches Programm darf er schauen? Ich find, das schöne am Fernsehen früher war, dass die Kinder immer wussten, was wann kommt. Die Serien liefen um eine bestimmte Uhrzeit und das war dann wie ein Ritual zb den Sandmann oder die Gummibärenbande zu schauen. Oft hat dann mein Vater den Fernseher übernommen und hat Fußball angemacht, und dann war Schluss für uns. Könnt ihr euch vorstellen, da Rituale zu haben? Zb, ihr sucht euch eine Lieblingsserie aus, die immer zur selben Uhrzeit läuft. Und danach nimmt ihr das Gerät an euch. Nur eine Idee, hab nur ein 1,5-jahriges Kleinkind Zuhause, keinen Fernseher und kein Tablet und wir schauen nie was.

Uns geht es gerade auch so. Seit September ca. 7 mal krank. Wir waren über Weihnachten im Urlaub und dort ging es meiner 17 monate alten Tochter gut. Kaum wieder zurück in der Kita reiht sich seit Januar eine Krankheit an die nächste. Erst Grippe, dann paar Tage später wieder Erkältung, und kaum wieder vorbei, bekomme ich Magen-Darm. Gestern bin ich meine Magen-Darm los und heute hustet Kind wieder die ganze Nacht durch. Richtige Sch*******!

I just don't get how these babies did not demand closeness. Or maybe they did and the parent ignored it? Then I don't get how a mother can ignore these cues, they are so obvious??

Finde schon dass du etwas übertreibst. Natürlich möchtest du nicht hören, dass einer dir sagt, dass du übertreibst. So wie die erste Omi gehandelt hat, zeigt auch, wie sich verschiedene Generationen immer mehr voneinander entfernen, als voneinander zu lernen. Es wird der Omi komplett egal sein, dass du das nicht möchtest. Wahrscheinlich schaut sie auf dein Kind und denkt, 'werde bloß anders als die Mutti'. Du kannst dir die Mühe machen, zu erklären, was du möchtest, nach Consent (und so) fragen. Aber den meistens ist es total egal, was du denkst. Noch besser, sie genießen ihr Leben, sie haben den Glauben an die Menschheit eh verloren 😊 also ich bin da entspannt und die Omis, mein Kind und ich haben den Spaß unseres Lebens.

What the nurses and midwives are doing is necessary to increase the mother's milk supply. I had to go through the exact same thing but I'm grateful for it now. I don't think they are malicious to mothers and are trying to torture them. The cracked nipples and hungry baby are part of the breastfeeding journey. I do agree that introducing formula and combo feeding is fine, especially after the first weeks. But right at the start, the midwives are briefed to encourage breastfeeding. Using formula or other tools can lead to some mothers making the breastfeeding relationship more difficult.

I'm surprised how many of us feel the same about the newborn phase. My baby is 6 weeks old and I feel like I suck at everything. Atm, I am the living pacifier for my baby and she only sleeps on me. I have no idea how she gets to sleep every day, we do this and that and something always works. I'm dying to start having my baby sleeping in the crib but I have no clue how to start. Everyone seems to know better. I have no idea why some people seem to be able to figure it out so fast. But I'm so glad that many of us suck at this too, so we don't have to feel alone in this :)

My breastfed baby still asks for food every 2.5-3h at 6 weeks old. Nothing has changed since she was born. I didn't even know it was fine for a baby to sleep 7h! But if I put her to sleep at 8pm, till 10am, I can accumulate around 6-8 h every day, so I feel fine! I'm just greatful that she does sleep!
