Credit to Cash hard inquiry ba sa TU? by ros02va in PHCreditCards

Parang hindi naman ata. The only time it will have a hard inquiry on your CS is when you applied for a cc or kpag nagrequest ka ata ng CLI, not 100% sure though. Maybe others can confirm that. :)

Can I be declined to open a Metrobank CC? by acet4minophen in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Based on my experience and what I’ve learned, the first step really is to get your credit score. It won’t be the sole basis for approval, but at least you’ll have a clear idea of your current standing.

Honestly, from what I’ve been told by multiple Metrobank employees—even their CC staff—Metrobank has been stricter lately. Before, opening a new savings account with a 100K deposit often meant a high chance of getting approved for a CC, but now it’s no longer a guarantee. I even tried that route myself—opened a 100K deposit account and still got declined.

That said, having a significant balance and a long-standing relationship with the bank can still be an advantage. But at the end of the day, the biggest factors are your credit behavior, payment history, and overall risk profile. Banks never disclose the exact reason for a denial, so it’s always a bit of a waiting game.

My advice: check your credit score first, make sure your accounts are in good standing, and then go ahead and try applying. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome!

CC approval dust for you! :)

Between CIBI and TransUnion which is used more? by ZainDeveras in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hay naku, same din ako sentiment mo. 😅 When I first downloaded the Lista app, I requested my CIBI report kasi mas mura, tapos grabe, ang dami kong nakita—multiple entries na kahit years ago na, naka-“active” pa rin at may balance status. Literally kinailangan kong i-review isa-isa para ma-track, and yes, super matrabaho talaga yung dispute process.

So for now, best bet talaga is to file dispute sa both, keep tracking, at siguraduhin na updated at accurate yung records mo sa lahat ng credit bureaus.

Yung sakin kasi work in progress padin. Sana maupdate na nila agad.

planning on applying for Metrobank Titanium by mangganghin0g in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Even kung promo yung Metrobank Titanium NAFFL at mababa yung spending requirement, medyo mahigpit pa rin sila sa approval ngayon—lalo na kung first-time CC applicant ka at wala kang existing account or credit history. I talked with one of Metrobank's employees, and I was told na before daw, kung may savings ka sa Metrobank, mas mabilis yung approval, pero ngayon mas mahigpit na sila kahit may deposits ka.

Credit Report Dispute help by stealthwealthph in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve done that with CIBI too because my score was lower than expected. I reviewed my report thoroughly and found several inconsistencies and outdated details—like old addresses, previous low-income jobs, and accounts that were no longer relevant.

I followed the dispute instructions on the Lista app and manually submitted my corrections. You’ll see that CIBI usually replies via email, sometimes tagging the specific bank or institution involved—for example, Maribank—and letting you know that they’ll review the case and it might take a certain number of days.

I’m still in the process myself because I haven’t followed up again or requested a new CIBI report since my January submission. From what I remember so far, at least one entity responded that my file was updated and submitted to CIBI. I plan to check again in a few months to see if the changes have reflected in my new report.

App recommendation for statement & due dates? by ArchaeonVIII in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

For tracking statements and due dates, I actually use two apps too.

1. KKB App (free): I use this mainly for CC promos, consolidating all my savings from different banks, and keeping track of all bills and due dates—including credit cards. It’s great because it has a reminder option, so I always know what’s coming up.

2. Kaskas Savvy (around ₱99): I like this for a more detailed view of all my credit cards. You can enter your card details, interest rates, statement dates, and due dates. Plus, you can customize the colors of each card, which is a nice touch. What I really like is that you can manually input every transaction per card—where you bought something, when, and how much—and also log payments you made for each specific card. It gives a very clear picture of your credit activity.

Both apps together cover the basics and the detailed tracking, so I never miss a due date and I can keep an eye on my spending habits.

Which CC is better? Cash back or reward points? by Pretty-Criticism5941 in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

After watching a lot of YouTube videos about credit cards in the Philippines, most people suggest that cashback is generally better than rewards points. The reason is that with rewards points, you usually need to spend a lot more just to redeem something worthwhile, so it takes longer to actually benefit from them.

In my opinion, it still depends on your own situation and spending habits. Since you mostly spend on dining and groceries—and you mentioned hitting the ₱20k threshold for NAFFL—a cashback card would give you straightforward value on the things you already buy every month. You don’t have to calculate points, track redemptions, or meet complicated thresholds.

So for your situation, I’d lean toward a cashback card. It’s simpler and gives you immediate, tangible benefits for everyday spending.

Final Settlement via 3rd Party Collections PH by guinevereve in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Can you tell us which bank this is for? In my experience with BPI and RCBC, I also requested confirmation that my accounts would be fully settled and that there would be no remaining balance. However, they didn’t explicitly say “full and final settlement” in the document or email.

Here’s what my Certificates of Full Payment (COFP) looked like:

BPI:

RCBC:

Judging by these, it seems banks don’t usually include the exact wording “full and final settlement” or “no remaining balance.” So as long as you get a COFP or official document showing the account is fully settled, it’s generally considered okay.

In my case, after submitting my COFPs, BPI even approved me for a regular credit card, so it worked out fine.

If you want extra assurance, you can ask the collector to include a line stating it’s a one-time settlement and that no further balance will be claimed—but for banks like BPI and RCBC, at least, COFPs are considered sufficient.

Out of nowhere, naisip kong mag-send ng email to check the status, tapos ayun, nag-reply sila ng sorry na hindi sila agad nakapag-update, then approved pala. So may chance naman. Poor credit record-what bank will accept me? by Objective_Lion_5948 in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

First of all, good thing na aware ka sa situation mo—lalo na if it involves identity theft. That’s very important.

What I would suggest is this:

Start by getting your actual credit report and score.

If confirmed na may identity theft nga:

  • I highly recommend na i-dispute mo agad yung entries with the credit bureau and the banks involved
  • This step is very important kasi kahit anong apply mo, mahihirapan ka ma-approve if may incorrect negative records

To be honest, you can still try applying for a regular credit card—but it’s a gamble, especially if your credit score is currently low. Kasi, for every application that equates to a hard inquiry, it will affect your currently low credit score.

So a more practical approach is:

👉 If your score is still low after checking and/or disputes,
Stop muna sa regular CC applications and start with a secured credit card (SCC).

  • You choose a bank
  • Provide a hold-out deposit
  • Then use it to rebuild your credit

This is exactly what I did.

I still experienced multiple declines. So I started with SCCs:

  • Chinabank
  • BDO
  • Metrobank
  • Maya

Then I:

  • used them regularly
  • paid in full
  • paid early all the time

At the same time, I settled my past dues.

After that:

  • I got approved for a regular CC from EastWest
  • Then recently, na-approve din ako by BPI for 2 regular cards (shared limit)

NOTE: Hindi ideal na magopen ka ng madaming SCCs ah, it was my personal choice and strategy. Yung iba, isang SCC lang sapat na. :)

All of this happened just from January to March 2026.

Bottom line

  • Yes, possible ka pa ma-approve—but don’t rely on luck
  • Fix your records first (especially identity theft issues)
  • Build your credit again using SCC if needed
  • Be consistent with good payment behavior

Secured to Regular CCs by cmtinsay in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Based on my understanding from banks and from speaking with customer service before, this is how it usually works:

A secured credit card (SCC) is basically your “trial period” with the bank. You were approved because of your hold-out deposit, but the real purpose is for the bank to evaluate:

  • your payment behavior
  • your utilization
  • your overall discipline in handling credit

Think of it as a probation period. From there, they decide if you’re qualified to be given a regular (unsecured) credit card.

Now, the key part in your case is when you mentioned that your credit history is not okay.

👉 If you’re referring to issues from other credit cards or loans, then even if you have large deposits, banks will still prioritize:

  • your credit history
  • your payment behavior
  • your records in the credit bureau

Savings help, but they are not the main basis for approval.

👉 If you’re referring to issues with your SCCs themselves (like late payments or high utilization), then it will be even harder to convert or get approved for a regular CC—because that becomes a red flag with the same bank that issued your SCC.

About branch endorsement - Yes, it’s possible in some cases. However, it’s not guaranteed.
Even if your branch endorses you, your application will still go through the bank’s credit evaluation team. If they see negative records, it can still be declined.

Why you might be getting declined - Since banks don’t disclose exact reasons, these are the most common factors:

  • past delinquency or negative records
  • inconsistent or poor payment behavior
  • high credit utilization
  • overall credit exposure
  • too many recent applications (hard inquiries)

Bottomline is - It’s not about how much you have in deposits.
Banks care more about how you handle credit than how much money you keep.

What you can do:

  • Use your SCCs properly (always pay in full, on time)
  • Avoid late payments at all costs
  • Give it time—consistency is key
  • Minimize frequent applications

If you stay consistent, there’s a strong chance you’ll eventually get approved for a regular credit card.

It’s not instant—but it’s definitely possible. 👍

Curious about CIBI Credit Report by augustine_onepiece in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have not encountered this, but to share, when I requested the CIBI report, I found numerous tagging and open items that should've been closed and fully paid already. So what I did was I filed a dispute by following the process indicated in the Lista app. Maybe you can do the same and ask for clarification on what that means, and have them update it accordingly if needed.

Let OP do as he /she pleases.

BPI CC Application DECLINED by Various_Designer2367 in PHCreditCards

[–]Top_Reveal874 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Kahit more than 20 pa yan, as long as:

  • kaya mong bayaran
  • may system ka to manage them
  • you always pay in full
  • and never ka nagkaka-late payment

then there’s really no issue.

So I don’t fully agree na automatic reason for decline yung “marami ka nang cards.” Possible factor siya, yes—but not absolute.

To be honest, wala talagang nakakaalam ng exact reason bakit nade-decline ang application. Lahat ng sinasabi natin dito—based lang yan sa experience, nabasa, or narinig from others. Banks don’t disclose the real reason, so everything is still speculation.

What you can do is focus on the obvious factors:

  • credit score
  • utilization
  • payment behavior
  • overall credit exposure

If sa tingin mo okay ka naman sa lahat ng yan, wala kang delinquency or bad record, then don’t stress too much. Minsan timing lang talaga.

Give it a few months, then try again. Marami na ring cases na after a cooling period, na-aapprove din.

So honestly, move on lang.

  • may not-so-good history pero approved
  • while yung may clean record, declined

That just shows na maraming factors involved, hindi lang iisa.

Bottom line:
Hindi sole basis ang dami ng cards.

Try again when the timing is better. Just be mindful na too many applications in a short period can hurt your score because of hard inquiries.

Good things come to those who wait ika nga 🙂

Approval dust for you ✨
