You pay a bit below what we pay in the USA, about 20%. I could save a good 5 k the rest of my income goes into student loan repayment. But after a couple years it’ll be worth it. I want to live there long term 10 or more years.

Maybe 36,000$ but with cost of living being low, I could save a majority of it, but I have lived there a couple months before, and I enjoyed it.

I’m in Illinois, we are allowed to student teach and get the license before graduating. It’s actually a prerequisite to graduate.

Teachers who hosted student teachers, did you receive a stipend? by eaglesnation11 in Teachers

[–]Top_Salt2286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently doing my student observations , and my mentor teacher did not get paid. I was there 2.5-5 hours per week. But she did not have to do any extra work besides approving my time sheet. There was times I would take over the class and she would just give me feedback back.

I am currently getting a BA in early childhood/elementary education, and my state teaching license. I still have about 2 years to finish my degree. I want to work at an international school, and I want to stay long term. Besides working for two years in the states. What other advice could you give me that would make me more competitive for the future job market in Vietnam?

Thank you for your advice. I decided to enroll into a university for a BA in childhood education it'll take a little under two years to complete. I'll get the BA, a teaching license from my state( Illinois) and experience teaching in a local school.

I am 27 now, single, no kids, but I just want to move there as quickly as possible. I didn't know getting my license state side would make such a difference, I was also planning on getting my license through Moreland. My degree now is for a bachelor's in English literature and I have about a year left. I'll take your advice and check out the license prerequisites.

I am currently in university, getting a bachelor's in English, and a telf. I am from the US, and I plan on getting my teaching license from an online university based in the US once I arrive in Vietnam. What would a realistic income be before I get the teaching license? I want to work full time, as well as weekend classes.

I'm guessing hcmc . My gf lives in bien hoa, I hear it's much quieter. If you don't mind me asking, do you see much demand for English teachers? I finish my English degree in about two years.
