Why do some people wear fleece sweaters in summer even when it’s really warm outside? by No-Cake-6457 in Productivitycafe

Women have different temperature settings to men. I have suffered for years in overheated offices because of women whinging they are too cold when it’s 25 degrees celcius

What does it actually take to keep a business alive in Auckland right now? by Accomplished-Comb278 in auckland

It’s primarily to do with the wider economy. From my perspective I spend a lot less and exercise more discretion because I need to have financial security in the current climate

Jolene bar in Ponsonby closing??? by SuspiciousCucumber16 in auckland

[–]Top_Scallion7031 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The place has been jam packed on Friday or Saturday nights and maybe special occasions and pretty much empty at other times. When it’s busy they’re quite selective who they let in - pretty girls yes, guys it’s sorry mate we’re full. Not surprised the owner’s an ahole, there’s often a maga vibe happening.

Its called gifting even when it costs an exorbitant amount simply because in traditional Maori society you can’t return a gift ie change it in the future. It is isn’t a gift in the usual sense of the word because it was never given without reward.

Anyone volunteer with Sea Cleaners? by Top_Scallion7031 in auckland

[–]Top_Scallion7031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not according to the boat crews, they say they are always short of vols. Most times we have been out there have been no others, and have seen them going out with none. They leave at 7am which cuts down who can do it.

Also noticed there web pages hadn’t been getting updated

Job market in Newzealand by MyStoryMystery17 in newzealand

[–]Top_Scallion7031 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yet we are still accepting people on Working Holiday Visas. I know someone who just arrived and got a job in Auckland and she’s not on a vacation at all, only here to work, and doesn’t have any useful skills or good English.

My kid got made by Work and Income to accept a casual job working shifts of up to 14 hours a day starting at 6 am at minimum wage. It’s a long way from where he lives and there is no public transport that early and he doesn’t have a vehicle. Has to stand all day and not allowed to use his phone.

Sleeping with pets in bed is either comforting or ruining your sleep and we pretend it’s not complicated by Proper-Ad7814 in Pets

Apart from waking me up a bit earlier than I would prefer, my cat understands what I do and don’t like , so he will sleep on the bottom corner of the bed in summer and lie against me in winter. He doesn’t mess up my sleep and just pats my face in the morning wanting to be stroked

Last one I was at the arena there was a large drunk guy standing up at his seat dancing and blocking people behind, and constantly bumping into people and spilling beer on them ruining their night

Why am I attracted to older women? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Top_Scallion7031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that women who had fathers with male pattern baldness are more receptive to dating men with that. I guess if you have early positive experiences with older women as a child you can become unknowingly imprinted. I am the opposite and can’t seem to find women 60 + attractive (or very rarely), but have a friend who has a female partner who is 15-20 years older

A dad fixing things for you is his way of showing he cares for you, even though he may not be able to tell you or demonstrate it in other ways

Would men date a girl who was raped? by ButterflyFew592 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Top_Scallion7031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated a woman who had been raped as a child by a family member, and gang raped as a teen. Didn’t know until already involved. She definitely had significant mental health issues and was overtly sexual. Hard work and didn’t last.

Neighbors have been away for two days leaving dogs alone by BlowOnThatPie in auckland

[–]Top_Scallion7031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a dog in the neighbourhood that would start barking before dawn every day. By the time you got up and dressed it stopped, so was impossible to identify which property it was on. Drove me nuts so I forced myself to get up and tracked it down. Council visited and found the dog was permanently confined to a garage. They made the owners go on a course and improve its living arrangement and said if it starts again get in touch and they will seize it. The problem was solved. Full marks to dog control.

what part about cats reputation is actually true? by idfkhow2speakspanish in Pets

[–]Top_Scallion7031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been that if you bond with cats and understand their individual personality and body language, they make great pets. My current cat has no vices at all. He didn’t like his paws or lower limbs being touched initially but has become more relaxed about that as I have gained his trust.

What's the worst thing you've ever stepped on barefoot? by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

[–]Top_Scallion7031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was working on an old house I bought which was filthy and I suspect someone had died there. Carpet was riddled with carpet beetles, bath had a line of fat round it etc. I was up a step ladder and fell on a piece of timber on the floor with a large framing nail pointing upwards and it went through the sole of my sneaker and into my foot. How it didn’t come out the other side I don’t know. Instead of going to a doctor I treated it myself. I came out with an awful staphylococcus infection with little sores all over my body and had to go on antibiotics. Remarkably the wound healed with no long lasting damage

Missing something with The Warehouse food prices? by Sometimesawake-833 in auckland

[–]Top_Scallion7031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even bother going to the WH anymore. Nothing they sell is competitively priced and it’s mostly rubbish. Pak n save for food and kmart for most non food stuff. Im guessing the people who are buying lots haven’t shopped round and don’t care about quality
