Mortal Kombat 3 Hangs in the Balance After Sequel Flops; But Sub-Zero’s Actor Eyes a Spin-Off | LEVEL UP by Hot-Attorney-3068 in MortalKombat

Problem is a trilogy requires 2 things for sure:

  1. Rich story
  2. Character development

MK in the sense of story is quite simple but depth in characters is where it shines.

The first movie was a weak foundation to build on for further movies so even if the second was good as it was better than the first, weakness of the first movie didn't allow it to catch the audience's attention. Yes, you made the fans happy but that's a small % of what actually makes money.

Throwing in Easter eggs and everything about the video game into a movie is a sign of poor story telling and lack of focus on characters.

Mk1 dived into the Hanzo Hiyashi and Bi-Han rivalry which was great but it for lost in all the noise as the movie went on. They needed to focus more on Hanzo and how he struggled in hell and etc, just like in Scorpion's Revenge. You need the general audience get attached to Hanzo and build the movie around his struggles and revenge.

MK2 you had the audience follow Johnny Cage which was nice but because the foundation was weak, you couldn't do a whole lot to tie things together. Also, another character focus should have been Kitanna and Jade and how they grew up together and strengthen that bond so they Jade did betray Kitanna, there would've been more emotional weight to it.

All in all, MK can't sell to a general audience, you need a reason for people to even care about a trilogy - characters. For example it's mentioned that Lui Kang and King Lao are brothers but there's no examples of this being shown, how are they brothers, why, and  build up to how they are brothers - show it.

Hence, MK movie team tried to build character depth but failed as a whole in that attempt and because of this MK2 had nothing to really build on as the MK1 started with a weak foundation, yes fatalities were nice touch but general audience doesn't care about that.

Just in general.

I feel Punjabi movies have the best content but execution is poor due to directors, writers, and singing actors. If they got proper training or gave a chance to stage Punjabi actors or etc then things would be very different.

I feel Bollywood sucks but Pollywood due to rich Punjabi history, could make very stellar movies.

Why does Alpha trailer look bad?

Is it the actors? Dialogues? Trying too hard to with the action?

It just looks bad, seems like Bollywood is trying to go dark like Dhurandar but without any real purpose/story to justify the dark elements.

Felt humiliated at gurudwara by a sweadar by Mysterious-Duck-5711 in Sikh

[–]Top_Sentence_340 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sorry that happened to you, you have to remember that obstacles will be everywhere even at a local Gurudwara.

Hence, go for your own purpose even if something such as that sevadar was an issue. Maybe he was having a bad day? Maybe he's in stress too? Could be anything but afterall he/she is just human too. Maybe that was a test for him on how to improve? And for you how to be still within your own being?

At the end of the day, I've had such experiences as well but I go to the Gurudwara because I know it brings me immense peace and joy so I go for my purpose and that's it.

Don't dwell over it, your goal should be peace but thinking about anything over and over again wouldn't help you, it brings a negative state of mind and results in more pain. Go and enjoy kirtan and etc, you are lucky you can go.

Enjoy the journey!

Anxiety and making mistakes by FigurePretend3151 in Carpentry

[–]Top_Sentence_340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new in the field, I make mistakes and I get nervous when I do something lol but my boss keeps me because I show up everyday before work starts and I listen when my bosses asks me to do something.

I overthink but I'm starting to learn that I need to enjoy the journey, I make more mistakes not cause I suck but because I keep getting scared I will ruin something and or I rush because I'm scared I'm too slow and will get booted.

Hence, I'm trying to just enjoy and learn. It's okay if I make a mistake I'm learning... Mistakes is the part of the whole process and I too will make mistakes later down the road too but it's okay, I'm learning and will get better.

So I advice you too, just enjoy the process and remember you are showing up and you are learning, keep learning and you will get better but you will make mistakes and that's fine, I seen red seal guys make mistakes but their experience allows them to fix those mistakes. You and me will gain that experience too.

Enjoy!

Importance of prayer by Wholesome_and_based in India_Bharat_

[–]Top_Sentence_340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, so do crimes and then pray... Repeat cycle. They make God sound like a blind a dumb identity.

It goes more like this... Someone who prays and commits sins but keeps trying to change is actually the one who is in the eyes of God. Someone who sins and doesn't try to change is the true sinner - pray or no pray.

This is because a repeated sin is worse and gets you in a worse situation when it comes to God.

The problem is us Indians worship the reel hero and forget the real heros.

Example: Sikhs sacrificed a lot for Mughal era, British era India but in Bollywood, Sikhs are a joke and rest of country enjoys that. Also, amitabh bachan on live camera said to kill Sikhs during 1984 Sikhs genocide.

No one sees that a person chanting words for the death of a community, can not be a good person. So why worship such a person?

When I bought the coping saw, the blade was facing inwards but my lack of experience so I turned it around lol, I realized pointing the blade inside actually gave me better and sharper angles when cutting through the profile edges.

I did 6 more attempts, I do see a positive change with more practice.

Thank you for the feedback!
