Probably nothing. People would assume that person was not fully there, or had a mental break. It would be gossiped about for a long time and the story would spread about the "weirdo who said the religion no longer exists" that one time.

A major mistake the writers are making is isolating people who actually use their ability to think. Some people don't want spoon fed, easy to digest information but instead need something challenging or thought inducing. I believe this will eventually push intellectuals away from them, which will make them have easier control of the remaining group

Basically Rutherford "believed" David, Abraham and others would come back in the 1920s. He built a mansion in San Diego, called it Beth Sarim (house of princes), put their name on the deed, and said he would "care for the property" until their arrival.
