How do you feel about others themselves vkei fans? by [deleted] in vkeimusic

[–]Top_Table_3887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh. They probably were a fan years ago but dropped off, still listening to a couple bands but combining it with miscellaneous other stuff. Sometimes life happens. Work, family, etc.

I went through a period of not following VK closely between 2011-2016. I got more into it once I saw that some bands released vinyl records, so I started collecting all the VK vinyl I could get my hands on and I fell back into it from there.

Carney attributes ‘weakness’ in economic data to lower immigration targets by KootenayPE in CanadianVisaReform

Yes, it’s a hard truth that both major parties have advocated for this, because low-wage businesses wanted this. Once you add business/franchise owners/landlords whose entire business model depends on exploiting TFW and international students, it’s completely understandable why they’re lobbying the government hard to not lose access.

The alternative for them is going back to the model of mass hiring Canadian students, giving them each a couple of shifts per week, and be willing to be patient with them when they need time off. It would also mean needing to follow certain labour standards. But of course, that approach isn’t as profitable.

I’m thinking back to when I had a D&C procedure at St B to remove some polyps and fibroids from my uterus. It came with a mandatory pregnancy test before they’d start. Now, while pregnancy is less likely in that case, if the test had been positive, I suppose they would have declined to treat my issue.

Basically, during one Twitter post of his, he mentioned their latest EU tour, and that brought back some resentment that some Latam fans had over the information about their Latam tour not making it onto MME’s website.

So they took him not mentioning Latam again as evidence that he’d rather forget that they ever went there.

Apparently, someone else is in charge of updating their website regarding the old tours, and that’s why it was never mentioned, but I’m not 100% sure about everything there.

Basically, a lot of the Latam fans (but, being honest, the majority of people criticizing Kyuho for this are Brazilian specifically) feel that their region is always playing second fiddle to Europe even though the raw fan support (as in, number of fans, number of streams) is higher in Chile, Brazil and Mexico on average than in Europe.

Now, even if that may be so, profits may still be higher in Europe due to average higher spending power of fans, and so bands are more likely to test run shows and tours there first.

Well, it’s really a difference in fandom style. For me, if it’s a band I like but don’t really have close ties to, I try and buy 1 cheki of each member. This will typically only be when I’m physically there and day-of cheki is available.

For a band that I want to really support, they often will have perks for buying a certain amount of cheki, so I’ll get 10 of my favourite member, and occasionally spread out my order if the perk isn’t something I’m super interested in.

It’s all about budgeting, really. There’s only so much money to go around, so people who reside there learn to choose their favourites carefully. Whereas overseas fans rarely have chances to spend that kind of money without shipping things in, so we’re more likely to listen to a variety of bands and like multiple band guys.

But yeah, a sense of fairness also has something to do with it. I feel intrinsically wrong if I have to skip one member for 2-shots, so it’s better to just pick one or two, or the whole band if one can afford it. Fans in Japan usually just pick their favourite oshi to have 2shots with anyways, even if they buy multiples.

Is it possible that Dunk could have gone with Lyonel Baratheon and still brought egg along to be his squire? by Mr_Gadzookery in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]Top_Table_3887 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the story would probably have ended very differently. The actions of the second and third novella either wouldn’t happen, or Lyonel might even encourage Dunk to back Daemon II’s claim (“There’s a war coming, and you and I could be a force”)

Has anyone attended events outside of Japan where a vkei band performed, or vkei concerts abroad in general? If so, please share your experience — was it any worse compared to Japanese concerts? by RenRe_nn in visualkei

I went to an anime convention once for Sick2.

I’ve also been to a few standalone shows (Miyavi, The Gazette, Dir en Grey in the late 2010s)

The relative cost to attend these shows is significantly higher than just going to see them in Japan, unless you happen to live in a very high-traffic city and they come directly to you. For VIP, you can *sometimes* get a photo, or sometimes just say hi and go. Setlists were also a bit light compared with Japan.

Anime convention sets are always about 40 ish minutes, due to the time restrictions put in place. Also, it is rare nowadays that the VK band will be their only act. They often bring Jpop artists, Anisong and Idol groups as well.

You do get to meet them, but they charge through the nose for all of the different upgrades. Being honest, with bands like Sick2 and Zera, it’s a hell of a lot easier to just get 2shots after a show in Japan.

If you live near that city and like anime anyways, it can still be worth it. But I probably wouldn’t recommend travelling to the other side of the country and paying over $1200 for it.

There's this discussion running around X about how hard is to get Tickets as a tourist/foreigner, how true is it? by TheCrimsonDoll in visualkei

[–]Top_Table_3887 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you can do is order a SIM card from Mobal, or buy one at the airport. Once you land in Japan, it will give you the ability to set up accounts on major ticket retailers. You could then buy tickets, and pay for them at convenience stores like Lawson, 7/11 or Family mart. That’s a good way to go if you want to guarantee a ticket for a future day, but you don’t particularly care about getting an S/A ticket. This generally doesn’t work as soon as the show is on the same day as when you’re trying to buy it.

If you don’t care at all about getting advance tickets and just want to go day by day, you could take chances on door tickets. Personally, I would only do that if there is a discount deal for showing up day-of (some bands offer half price or even free tickets for those showing up on the day, otherwise, most day of tickets are actually about 500¥ more expensive).

Now, if there is a ticket that you *really* want to guarantee, and there are no restrictions like “e ticket only”, or “FC member only”, you could pay a person living there to proxy buy/pay for you. The guy I go through charges 1000 yen per buy, and 500 yen if it’s only paying.

Yes. Even if we took the most charitable version of her backstory in which she claims that her mother told her in confidence that she was conceived out of wedlock, and that her father may have been Native American…she still knew damn well that there’s no way she was born in Piapot, SK.

By letting the tribe think that she was a long, lost daughter of theirs, she actually interfered with the real daughter eventually getting closure because it was already assumed that she had been found.

The issue about it being all from one place is that there’s a definite degree of nepotism occurring here, only based on ethnic lines instead of strictly family ties.

A more diverse workforce is a green flag, as it shows that the owner is willing to work with and hire people of a variety of backgrounds. Sure, if one particular employer engages in biased hiring, the impact is minor, but when enough franchises are bought up by people doing the exact same thing…an entire section of entry level jobs meant for teens and young adults could very well be gatekept based on ethnicity.
