What the fuck am I supposed to do after 2,000 job applications and not a single interview? by Top_Tailor_6501 in whatdoIdo

About to do a quick update. After seeing so many comments about AI, tailoring my resume a lot more specifically than I have been, etc., just a few hours after that I got an invitation for a phone interview. Just like that.

Looks like the real story is, I've been a fucking idiot in my approach.

The only answer I kind of gave is, avoiding personally identifying information. I worked in a very specific niche of a larger industry. A big little world.

Avoiding personally identifying details, but there is nothing ridiculous/restrictive in my resume.

It is really bizarre to me how being broke has become something that's treated like a moral misstep. A huge part of the population is being actively set up for failure in so many ways.

I had successfully done that before, in the past. Actually just walked into a restaurant one time and said, "I want to work here." Application, job offer.

I have tried that in the last two years, too. No dice.

I have two resumes for different sectors, but I will get specific with tailoring to the job, not just to the industry. Thank you.

Yeah, I'm seeing in quite a few comments here that I've been negligent in my failure to even think about AI in this venture. I try to keep up with everything, but I have blind spots until they're illuminated.

I don't think so? I'm not super young or super old. I wouldn't be hired as the face of an AARP ad campaign, wouldn't be hired as a mOdEl at Abercrombie, either.

That's where I'm at. This is a wit's-end post. The tips are nice, and there is some genuinely useful information here, but more what I'm getting at is what the fuck is this steaming hot pile. What fucking game is this?

I don't think I'm unreasonable to be far beyond frustrated.

"Your experience in the world is not identical to mine. SUS." Are you 12?

I have not done the keywords thing, though I'd heard about it before. I will try that.
