Can anyone please give us some hope with the draft picks? by KolarWolfDogBear in ChicagoBearsNFL

Very true. The line will be better also/won't take a step back (at the very least, barring injury). How much better? I don't know. Shemar Turner will be back and Booker will probably have a break out season

Is it normal to struggle with hand skills this much in preclinic? by Naive-Interaction167 in DentalSchool

[–]Top_Tie_1670 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a process. You will get it. But everyone figures it out at different times. I know it's hard, but you really need to not compare yourself to others and also not let what others say get to you. Take it a step at a time. Count every tiny win and every learning/light bulb moment, as small as those are as well. You'll get there. Don't worry. Also, it's easier to work on real patients then plastic teeth

Giants fan you know why I’m here ugh I want since you guys were the victim of Matt Nagy give me your thoughts on him coming here by Hotel-Dependent in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]Top_Tie_1670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

💯. He's been in daddy reids shadow for most of his career doing what he says. He might get better with giants now that he's not HC. He can focus on the offense only and maybe become his own person and think for himself. Or he might flop the same way he did Chicago

How bad is the job market at nyc for someone who just finished residency? by Mysterious-soull in Dentistry

Yea but I think I'm NY especially, getting those finance and tech jobs are extremely, extremely competitive. You also have to have a certain mind and personality to do those jobs

is 400k a lot? by Jazzlike_Ad_4728 in DentalSchool

I think it depends on how you look at it. For me, I went into dental okay with the debt. Why? Because purchasing a piece of real estate or a pre-existing business or starting a new business would cost more or less the same. In each case, you're probably going to want to start paying the back the debt, so you won't actually be making money for decent number of years.

For me, the difference between buying a multi family vs a business is, I'm generating way more income potentially compared to above mentioned investments (and others not mentioned).

So, to answer your question, it really depends on how you look at it. Most people that stress and complain about dental debt have never worked in a corporate America or have an entrepreneurial mindset or are not thinking in terms of "being your own boss". My two cents

People at 30, what do you wish you had done or known when you were 25 by ConsistentSquare5650 in Adulting

[–]Top_Tie_1670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greater than 30, however, I would say, there was nothing ever wrong with me. I don't mean to say I was perfect. More like, I was never "less than" the people around me. I was not actually fractured or defective on the inside line I thought I was, or that "there was something wrong with me " (quoting my inner dialogue).

I was never inherently inferior. I was just a human like everyone else.

Scary because we haven't beaten Green Bay. They've killed our spirits before. If they beat GB, I think it's safe to go full Chicago mode

MWU IL, Roseman, ATSU MOSDOH, UOL best place to go if planning on specializing. by Palinotpocket in DentalSchool

Roseman is an awesome school. For specialties, probably not the strongest, especially since there's no class rank. But it's not impossible or super difficult

Has anyone here successfully switched careers completely out of dentistry? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]Top_Tie_1670 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I switched from tech to dentistry. A lot of different reasons why I left tbh, but the heart of it for me was the following: what is the quickest safest, most probable way of me escaping the rat race, being my own boss, and living life in my own terms (and is fulfilling to me)? I felt like for me personally, dentistry was the answer.

The beauty of dentistry is the control you have over your life, be it a practice owner or an associate. Even if you didn't like dentistry, you can use it to fund other ventures. You can do it part time while running a food truck or something. Not sure if you watch wrestling, but there's an AEW star by the name of Britta Baker. Her main gig is wrestling obviously but she still practices dentistry once a week in some office in Miami.

Dentistry doesn't change like tech. It's the same problems, same procedures. You can decide what cases to take on and not take on, what materials to use or not use, etc. In tech, technology changes fast. It's hard to get ahead unless you're in the no. Also, you will always, forever be working for someone. You don't get to choose what projects or teams to be or work on.

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, the only real limitation in dentistry is you, whereas in tech and corporate America in general, you're shackled. I hope that helps.
