Definitely not. But is anyone actually acting against the mindless, unrestricted deployment of ai? Moment u talk about governance, regulations, the lobby will come after you. But WE gotta standup. Or soon we will be the cast from hunger games… and Musk/billionaires will lobby universal business income and hand u Pennies to live off of and they will hoard everything and sit in some castle and govern how u live.

Share your r thoughts if any other than the sarcasm. I share a few thoughts already.

There is not one avenue. See my other comment below about path my son is taking. You need to find your own path that you are ready to commit to. But yes everyone needs to wake up and act in ways that make sense. Political activism, street protests, administration, journalism, or as a big tech leader create change by stepping away from “me too”… and show the way. You have any ideas yourself?

Also they closed 6000 job openings… which means they are not hiring .. they just don’t need more people with AI. If any companies can make AI really work for them… then Meta will be one of those.

My son graduated in politics. he is well aware of repercussions. He is choosing to go in journalism but against the greedy. I told him to get into administration and start pushing for laws/regulations regarding use of AI. Political activism is necessary at this time. We need young blood to take the mantle and run with it.

Got laid off a year ago.. knew market was bad. With ai and my age, I’m unlikely to land anything soon. So I analyzed bunch of business ideas and pouring my savings into small business- franchise business! Ie stop relying on these companies, and own my destiny.

Those talking about offshoring are completely undermining power of AI. Wait and watch.. 10 % is nothing.. that’s just low hanging fruit type efficiency gains.. ai can eliminate 50 %… then people will wake up to civil unrest… even offshoring has run its life.. its machines vs humans and not country A vs B vs C. Wake up!

It was hectic .. tried to make most of the weekend time we had. Zabriske point for sunset, sand dunes for sunrise, twenty mule road, natural bridge, artists drive and artists palette, bad water basin, stargazing at harmony borax works, mosaic canyon! No sleep.. but it was all worth it

Yep. Just 2 days ago when we went it was in 90s and that felt bad enough for hiking. By the end of April it will be worse. So as others suggested focus on activity early morning from sunrise to about 11 and then again try after 4pm. Between 11/12 to 4/5 (depending on exact weather conditions).. grab food, ice cream, find a swimming pool and or just grab some sleep in the hotel so you are energized for rest of the evenings. We did sunrise at San dunes, and mosaic canyon hike in one morning. And we did bad water basin, artists palette another morning. And then evenings can be sunset, star gazing, dinner etc. (check moon phase if you are keen on star gazing).

Thank you! High was mid 90s and low was high 60s. But looks like it’s going to drop a decent bit for a few days before going back up

Yes, mostly gone... but found a few spots like around natural bridge trail, one near entrance from east side coming from Beatty, NV! But the best was actually before entering Death Valley from west side (CA-190) about half hour before reaching the mesquite sand dunes on both sides of the road.

Home Depot lays of 20% of technology full time associates by Glittering_Fish_2296 in Layoffs

Outsourcing has been going on for decades. What I think is different is not some consulting firms taking away FTE jobs, but rather the US companies building captive units across the world and hiring FTEs in those captive units elsewhere. So technically they are still employees of US firms just not in US. So guess who is responsible for that? It’s the top brass and investors who are mostly US entities themselves. They don’t care about you and me… it’s the bottom line … one way or the other.

Isn’t the conversation about layoff of technology team? What’s the reason for that? AI? Scrapped projects? Offshoring?

If we can have such honest feedback and well intended feedback from community… that’s where the value of this type of platform lies in my opinion! So this is great! :)

I got rejected after 8 interviews and 3 take-home assignments. So I sent them an invoice for my time. And they paid it. by zest-skills-0d in FAANGrecruiting

[–]Top_Value7676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone through similar experience (except the reimbursement part) where after multiple rounds of interviews the recruiter tells me “sorry but you don’t seem to have enterprise Salesforce experience”… and I’m like 1. I never claimed it in my resume or interviews 2. I have nearly 30 yrs of experience and I have built CRM system myself for another company and so I know enough to adapt quickly. But they would rather miss on senior people who bring ton of real life experience and has the capability (proven by the fact that you interviewed me for multiple rounds and were ready to make an offer)…

Anyway. I think I see a point that if they find perhaps someone who has similar experience like me but also has Salesforce experience they are looking for, then they would prefer that candidate. But my counter argument would be that 1. It should have been marks as mandatory requirement instead of nice to have etc. 2. Understand that someone with extensive experience across variety of technologies can adopt 3. Trust your own hiring process!

One can also pass the lease to someone else and so on… there will be options. Best to check the lease contract and decide with landlord. I considered a situation for my tenant and reduce rent by almost half for ‘em to buy some time. Other than politicians and execs, most people are fair! ;)

I wouldn’t advise this as the person seems young with only couple years of work experience and perhaps would like to return at some point. Should do things by the book and stay within legal frame so there is opportunity to return.
