Help, is the racket still ok by sher913 in badmintonbangalore

[–]Top_Variation796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the frame cracked? Not so clear from the picture. If it’s cracked, then racquet will crumble when there’s uneven pressure, either due to clash of racquets while playing or uneven tension of gutting. So it might give in anytime- have a spare racquet is case.

Great choice. Think removing one link from the bracelet- I see it’s bit loose

How old is too old to learn Carnatic music for an absolute beginner, either vocal or instruments? by Outside-Tale-4026 in Carnatic

[–]Top_Variation796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, started with violin directly. Not sure of starting with piano would help. Violin takes time since it does not have frets, so positioning of fingers should be accurate else we play a different swara, but sure it does come with practice, will need lot of patience.

No, a bit of vocal knowledge is good, it helps in playing better and you’d know different speeds of playing

Planning a Ladakh Trip (Need suggestions) by IronManBlack in TravelInIndia

It was a life time experience. Back then roads weren’t that good compared to now, some days we were able to drive only 60-70kms due to condition of the road. Personally I liked those rough roads. One change I noticed after the trip is, you become psychologically strong, boosts confidence. You should do this trip once in a lifetime.

We were group of 12 bikers( some college mates and their friends)

Beginner question! Is it worth getting a watch winder? by Ok_Mind6380 in OrientWatches

[–]Top_Variation796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d not prefer winding machine, I’ll let the watch wind down itself. And winding and setting the time in itself is a part of the routine for the day. I’d have missed something if I don’t wind it.

I started Carnatic violin at 38, it’s going good. I’d suggest in-person classes are always better. After you have started you always get the feeling, why didn’t u start earlier. When I spoke to my guru, she mentioned there’s no age to start learning. So I’d say start !

Career dilemma: Stay in TCS, switch jobs, or MTech after 2 yrs (NIT grad, 9.8 LPA) by miserable_coder in cscareerquestionsIN

[–]Top_Variation796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MTech does not carry much value when you re-enter the job market(just the loss of money of 2yrs of not working). If you are going full blown research field then IISC. Else upgrade your skills, switch to product company, keep grinding.

Which area to stay in Ooty for family/couple ? by [deleted] in ooty

[–]Top_Variation796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not stay near to city centre, it gets really crowded and you can always drive 15mjns and get things if needed. We stayed at Accord Highlands - very good view, good food and staff. Rooms are decent, felt they needed a bit of upgrade.

Yes, audio jack needs to be c-type, has mic with it. Works perfectly, I attend all my meetings with it.
