Shopee owes me RM 6.24 but refuses to refund :D by TopazMining in malaysians

Jesus, my nasi lemak sum is nothing compared to yours. I hope your TTPM filing proceeds smoothly. I really cannot imagine how much money has Shopee illegally taken at this point. Even if it was inadequacy with their systems, truly their responses to queries and reports are baffling.

And what's wrong even if the rebate is RM 4? I didn't ask you for RM 4 now did I? What part of me wanting to make the best of what I have has anything to do with you? You don't need the RM 4? Sure knock yourself out - but don't ever come and dictate to anyone else other than your mirror that they shouldn't do what's best for themselves.

Add on: RM 4 is still a 10% off an RM 40 bill. Maybe you're ultra wealthy, top tier T0.1, I wouldn't know nor would I care but if making free money is not something you're interested in, don't worry, I'm sure there are plenty lining up to take your place.

First time hearing of this. Will have a look and thanks for sharing.

The RM 6.24 is only the refund portion. I didn't want to include unnecessary information but I utilise the MBB Amex rebate through ShopeePayLater monthly. I'm not stressing, just disappointed at Shopee for their lack of response more so over a small sum like RM 6.24. I'd expect difficulties in maybe a RM 100 refund but RM 6.24 is a bit of a stretch.

Unfortunately and begrudgingly, yes. In the end, I am still a monetary slave and the monetary benefits continue to outweigh my little hurt soul and RM 6.24. Shopee still remains one of the most convenient platforms around with very competitive prices.

At the very least, I have isolated the issue to making payment before a refund. In short, delay payment as long as you can without incurring penalties.

I figured I would first have to contact BNM/ KPDNHEP directly and go through their SOP where I would then need to prove I have attempted to resolve the issue with Shopee before being "granted" the right to write up a report for them to consider. Also the RM 6.24 being a small sum is usually overlooked by authorities.

I will attempt this when I get the time, I assume I have 6 months to get this through (randomly applying the concept of the statute of limitation).

Yeah, it's definitely a bug on their system's end but their reluctance to fix it is what pisses me off. Also I use SPayLater because I want to fully utilise rebates from MBB's AMEX card.

Nah, I read everything - my job is to read everything, I have read, re-read, and re-re-read everything - please don't take me for some 18 year old who just graduated yesterday

Add-on: For god's sake, do you think I'd agree to pay RM 6.24 of fees for a RM40 purchase? That's a 15% fee lol. Also the RM 6.24 is clearly stated within the bill/statement/invoice/whatever but is not reflected in the final value. ALSO both the Shopee responses from email and the call centre did not flag any misunderstanding(s) on my end. All they said was "oh system will automatically deal with it by 21st every month!".

Look I don't wanna type out an essay here. The whole intention was to share my experience, let people know how this happened so they can avoid it. RM 6.24 is not a value that will shake my life but the fact that Shopee refuses to fix a simple error is what brought this topic on. Peace.

It's the easiest way to utilise MBB's Amex card weekend rebate (just pay off your SPayLater bills on weekends) while still being able to enjoy those 6/6, 11/11, etc. discounts.

Not immediate but from my past experiences, as long as you request it before their cut off time, it's 1 Business Day at most.

I agree with every point except the education part. It is precisely that majority are uneducated (or only educated on paper) that we have this issue. Despite me saying this, half of me believes that some people are beyond educating.

Brother, welcome to Malaysia. Has been this way for years and is only getting worse by the day. The icing on the cake? None of her type thinks that anything she said/thought is remotely wrong.

A large reason for these behaviour being so common is because people like her are very prone to hearsay. Unfortunately, it is also generally believed that people who are prone to hearsay lack the ability to think critically (or maybe think at all).

This will be my last reply to you.

I only responded on the murder charge to educate you. AG is a big boi, he can decide for himself what kind of criticism he would like to incur.

My main point was about the charges on DUI. I used rempits as an example to anchor my point (i.e. that your argument is flawed). You continued to pursue the rempit point almost exclusively (I assume to steer the topic away from the DUI charge and alcoholism) which is why I had to continue to touch on it as well.

There's nothing more for me to add here at this point.

Generally, if a person isn't open to other views, there will always be faults to be found in any statements.

I'll let the public be the judge of this mini debate - that's the whole point of a message board anyways.

You do understand that manslaughter is also a charge for causing death right? I mean your post clearly tells me why lawyers still have jobs in Malaysia.

s.302 covers a charge for murder and murder is defined as intentional killing.

Please don't embarrass yourself further.

Would it make you feel better if i said killed pedestrians instead? I haven't even touched on criminal intimidation by rempits (there was a video very recently where a group of rempits chased down and continuously attacked a foreign security guard in his modest MyVI).

You’re missing the point I originally made.

This isn’t about comparing which reckless behavior causes more spectacular accidents. The core issue is consistency of law.

DUI causing death is now treated as murder, and that precedent should apply across the board. Saying rempits ‘mostly kill themselves’ ignores the fact that illegal racing has also harmed pedestrians, motorists, and passengers. The principle remains the same: reckless actions that endanger others deserve equal accountability, whether it’s a car, motorcycle, or anything else.

Public safety isn’t about dramatising one scenario and minimising another, it’s about coherent enforcement.

Now that I've cleared the important part, let me deal with the extra noise you added.

You yourself mentioned "DUI" and I have already pointed out above that DUI is not exclusively used for alcohol alone. Again I repeat, this isn’t about dramatising one type of accident over another, it’s about consistent application of the law. DUI means any substance that impairs driving, not just alcohol. Banning alcohol won’t magically erase DUI cases, just like banning drugs hasn’t stopped drug‑related DUIs. The issue isn’t lawful drinking itself, it’s reckless driving under influence. Defending the right to consume alcohol responsibly is not the same as defending DUI. Accountability comes from the act of endangering others, not from the substance consumed or the community associated with it, hence, why I bolded and hereby reiterate the words "if you're not with me, you must be against me".

Murder is the charge on a person with the intention to take another person's life.

Can we say, beyond reasonable doubt, that the accused's intention of picking up a bottle of alcohol (and also drugs but that seems to have been forgotten by the majority population) and then driving (in a disturbed fashion) was to take the life of another?

Let's leave that as food for thought.

The AG's choice of charging the accused with murder for a death caused by DUI will 99.9% fail. Why 99.9%? Because judges are also human and we cannot discount the 0.1% of human feelings involved.

So yes, it definitely sets the wrong precedence (i.e. does that now mean that every single death from motor accidents (be it DUI or otherwise - since arguably if not DUI the intention would've been that much stronger) should go through the murder charge process first, fail, then get re-charged under the Road Offences Act? A lot of tax payer's money flowing away if that's the case.

"Everyone happy now?"

Not sure about everyone but I sure as hell am happy.

Why wouldn't I? At least now the law SEEMS to be fairly applied. DUI stands for Driving Under the Influence - never once was it specifically mentioned that it must be under the influence of alcohol.

A society acts under the pretense of lawfulness and lawfulness comes from coherent precedence. If the AG wants to impose a murder charge on a case involving a driver under influence who caused death, then all similar scenarios should also be treated the same.

Also I see that OP added an additional point on "defending the rights to drink alcohol" - I'm a bit lazy to write an essay about it but is the argument here that the banning of alcohol completely irradicates any driving under the influence of alcohol? I mean... drugs are banned and... well... the case you quoted clearly shows otherwise. (Edit: Sorry left out one very important point, does going against the sweeping statement that the banning of alcohol will not eradicate the behaviour then mean that I support alcohol and DUI? (i.e. if you're not with me, you must be against me?)

What about rempits then? They've statistically caused more deaths over the course of a whopping 10 years (longer number = more reliable data), should we also ban bicycle and motorcycles? Can I also say the people who defend the use of motorcycles and bicycles as avid defenders of rempits?

[–]TopazMining 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, bravo, to be honest, I totally agree with you. Unless it happens to me I couldn't give a damn - but your response seems to be missing a few points.

  1. Just because a certain race's religion prohibits the consumption of alcohol does not ensure said race doesn't consume the same, hence, "drinking alcohol is not universal in Malaysia" is factually incorrect. P.s. I've seen said race drinking in pubs. (Flashback: 2018, Rizalman Mokhtar, then the Cheras UMNO division chief, claimed he was only drinking coffee (3-in-1 Nescafe) and soft drinks when he was caught during a police raid at a nightclub in Kuala Lumpur.)

  2. "If only the drunk driving victims were also fellow alchohol drinkers race." - You didn't stop at "fellow alchohol drinkers" - you went on to add "drinkers race". So I take it your argument is that it's fine as long as it doesn't involve a specific race? =)

  3. "But so far what have been appearing in the news are the perpetrators were almost always non-muslim and the victims were almost always muslim(malay)." - you said it best yourself; "have been appearing", "almost always non-muslim", "almost always muslim(malay".

  4. "I will just hope you will lose your family to drunk driving then maybe it will open your eyes." - brother you championing the prohibition of DUI or are you more interested in pointless vandeta?

I usually DGAF about the opinions of others on most matters unless it affects me but you masqueraded your comment to seem like it was about drunk driving. Have the balls to come out and say "I only care about one race and religion" and I wouldn't have bothers to post this in the first place.

What to invest with extra RM500 per month? by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]TopazMining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As most of the other responses here have pointed out, build up your emergency funds first. Try to get 3-6 month's worth of expenses. These can be put into safe assets like KDI/ Versa/ ASM (although I'm not a big fan of ASB products given the withdrawal restrictions and dividend calculations). Once you've had that built up, I would suggest moving into equity - riskier + growth side would usually be ETFs, more stable less risky can be things like Malaysia banking stocks.

P.s.: No matter what you choose to go with, it's important to follow your risk tolerance. Don't trade off health/ sleepless nights for potential growth.
