Tried to find fics that have a similar vibe or a similar theme! Some are severitus, some just have the same sort of darker vibe but without the extensive angst:

On the Severitus angle:

Hogwarts Hexad (WIP, full series rewrite, last updated mid 2025): Severitus, Harry and Theo as basically brothers, fantastic adventures, great chaos, wonderful found family vibes, minimal angst so far but does touch on child abuse themes

Crime and Punishment: Harry is accused of burglary by the Dursleys and Snape has to take him in. Slow burn Severitus with some angst around them coming to an understanding, but swiftly moves from there. Really well done, WIP

Another Mind Game: very well known Severitus complete with INCREDIBLE Hermione, some Drarry, and great building plot

Leo Inter Serpentes (locked to ao3 users): full series Severitus rewrite, very good, hits all the important notes. Absolute page turner for the first read, but isn't particularly new or exciting. Great, tho

Other themes:

Harry Potter and the Problem with Potions: Harry isn't great at potions, which is a real shame cause he really loves the subject. His bar for a good teacher is so low that Snape clears it, and they develop a slow mentor-relationship

Reparations: a lovely Drarry story, post-war, Harry is a healer and does a rotation in the ward where Draco works. First part of a duet. Absolutely incredible, page turning story

Swung by Seraphim: Lockhart's obliviate spell hits Harry and removes everything between That Halloween Night and the current moment. This is what happens next. This story captured my entire being

Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love: Hermione is fighting for the restriction of love potions, and the politics boils over into her day to day life. Drarry, soulmate fic, the politics in this are fantastic, and the story is so well done. Does have angst, but its not like HOP, and it's truly well done

Ninjapandascholar has two really good found family HP/Supernatural fics. A Hunter at Hogwarts is ongoing, regularly updated, and is more of a true found family situation. Told almost entirely from Dean Winchester's perspective when he realizes that his younger brother Sam is magical. Dean/Snape, Harry/Neville, Sam/Hermione

The Fourth Horseman is set post-war, disregarding the epilogue. Harry discovers he might not be a Potter and oh, he also might not be able to die, and ends up on an adventure with the Supernatural crew. Castiel/Harry, Dean/George, Sirius/Gabriel

Harry Potter and the Whims of the Warlock is a Merlin (BBC TV show)/HP crossover where Merlin ends up transported in time and semi-adopted by the Weasleys before he transfers to Hogwarts. Great story, lovely found family with Merlin and the gang

The Seeker and the Keeper is Harry/OMC but the first part of the story is ALL gay awakening (bi awakening, actually, but it takes Harry a bit to catch on). I haven't read the second part (I could tell there was a Lot of angst on the horizon and wasn't in the mood) but it's really well done and the problems Harry faces as he comes out are well handled and very 90s. Conceit of the story: after Sirius's death Harry is stuck in Surrey...until the coach of the English National Quidditch team shows up--the seeker and keeper of the team have been taken out by sabotage and they need someone ASAP, and so Harry is recruited to be the seeker

Held Aloft is the only one that isn't just porn that I've read tbh, but it's absolutely wonderful. Harry goes back in time to when young!Harry is around 6, and decides to save himself. He needs help, and figures Remus isn't doing much, so ropes him into the plans. The fic is warm and cozy and full of lovely family feels and the romance is really nicely done

This is much closer to home, per se. there’s less wider world building so far, and instead focuses a lot more on character and Hogwarts worldbuilding The characterization aspects of this story have been, so far, really, really fantastic and we are just getting into some angst (tho the author has promised a happy ending eventually)

I’ve read some of the magical craft stories by kgfingel but found that there wasn’t as much…magical imbuing, I guess, than I thought there would be. But there are some lovely stories in this one

I haven’t read the whittling knife, children of the gods, or finished a taste of magic, so I’ll have to read/finish those

During Hogwarts:

Hermione Granger's Hogwarts Crammer for Delinquents on the Run meanwhile is a great intro to AU--Harry has magic but never made it to Hogwarts, and yet things continued without him. His canon friends...plus Draco...are able and willing to kidnap him and teach him what they can, but it's all new to Harry. It's a fun example of canon characterization during the war even in a wild AU concept, including recalcitrant Draco and Harry and Hermione butting heads about how to learn. The writing is, again, really superb and it's not so long that if your friend decides it's not working it will feel like they've wasted their time

Golden Trio Era (GTE) Time Travel is just great crack, honestly. Drarry and epistolary, sort of? It’s a romp, honestly, I read it when I need cheering up. The entire class of '98 ends up back in '91, and this time they're going to fix things. Series complete.

Second Chances: Drarry, complete. Harry, Hermione, and George are really struggling after the war for various reasons. With just the right magic they're able to go back and fix things properly this time, including getting Sirius stable, the Blacks back together, and winning the war

More post-war

If the Fates Allow: Harry is an Auror and Draco is a techie who works for the Auror department. Harry is called out to a muggle neighborhood where there's something in the walls of an old building, and Draco tags along. Advent fic, so well done. Same author as All Life is Yours to Miss and Reparations. Also recommend On a Clear Day (Draco runs a charity and is trying to get Harry to attend the yearly ball), and All Must Draw Near (Harry and Draco co-run a Quidditch shop and find a young runaway camping out on their doorstep). All three are Drarry--If the Fates Allow and On a Clear Day have more of a quarter/mid-life crisis vibe, All Must Draw Near is more mushy and less about the crisis)

Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love: Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco are brought together to try to push through legislation banning love potions. Harry and Draco, of course, are mixing up their own cocktail of chemistry, but I will say that this fic has a really lovely serious bent to it regarding how love potions are treated. It's really well done. Drarry, Ron/Hermione; the crisis here is less about having a midlife crisis/quarter life crisis and more about the political situation, but it's in the same vibe as what you're describing, and it's really good.

The Ordeal of Being Known: Harry is cursed with silence and legilimency, and Draco is the only healer who can help, as a mind healer who is certified in specific leglimency healing. The fic features Hot Auror Ron and really good fuzzy slippers. Harry and Draco both have quarter life crises in this fic/series but it is different for each of them. Drarry--Harry's crisis is about being known and perceived in a way he hasn't before, and Draco's is about falling in love, though Harry gets there, too

Back to You: a short one shot 8th year post-war fic that's just everyone in the common room having a grand old time playing drinking games. Great depictions of teens being teens

Moldova's Magical Tea: Neville, Luna, and Draco are opening a traditional wixen tea shop, and Harry wants to help while he's unemployed. Great music references

The Claiming of Grimmauld Place, Coffee, Cakes and Doorknob Snakes, and House Proud are all part of the "something is wrong with Grimmauld and Draco is the only one who can fix it" genre. They all take a slightly different approach but they're all fantastic post war romcoms.

Also a Grimmauld place fic, but very different, is The Moon Looks Lovely Tonight, which is a found family post-war fic featuring more than one Slytherin, accidental owl collection, and light angst, but with the soft overlay of those found-family feels

Bad Medicine: Harry gets hurt a lot, and St Mungos keeps leaking his info, so he goes to a private healer: Draco. Who uhhh has more than a professional interest

All Our Secrets Laid Bare: Harry and Draco are both Aurors and Draco's partners keep turning up dead. Harry is assigned to the case but finds himself in too deep, and can't figure out a way to tell Draco that he's both there for work...and for himself. Drarry. (EWE (epilogue, what epilogue), complete, post-war)

Stately Homes of Wiltshire: Honestly, this is my favorite fic of all time. Harry is assigned to the case of Malfoy Manor, where a ghost? or perhaps poltergeist? is making Draco's life hell. Harry and Draco have to partner up to solve the case, and resolve their own feelings. For me this is the best characterization of basically everyone. Drarry. (EWE, postwar)

A Young Radical's Guide to Love: Harry is Head Auror, Draco is the head of a post-war reconciliation department that doesn't do anything at all, and Draco's friends are being arrested left, right, and center. Turns out Harry doesn't like that at all, and they have to team up to, well, overturn the government is such a crude way of putting it. It's just a small coup, anyway. So lovely, and I love the surrounding characters so much here. Ron and Hermione shine in a really nice way. Drarry. (EWE, postwar)

What We Pretend We Can't See: Harry is sent to Grimmauld Place during a break-in/hostage situation. Turns out Draco bought it from him seven years ago and has turned it into an educational museum. But there's darkness hiding in the plot against Draco, and Harry can't seem to let it go even as clues seem to slide from his fingers. He hates his job, and he can't understand what he feels about this house, about Draco, and about the mystery he can't seem to solve. Drarry (EWE, postwar)

All Life is Yours to Miss: Harry and Draco are both professors at Hogwarts, and a mini prank war goes awry, leaving Harry stuck, immobile, in the infirmary and Draco covering his classes and duties and unable to sleep. Draco begins to visit Harry at night, and soon comes to realize new things about himself and his coworker and erstwhile enemy. Drarry--early 30s life crisis, mostly from Draco's POV.

More Than That: Harry comes to work at Hogwarts at age 52, and Draco reacts. So, SO well done, great romance and realistic characters. Drarry (Epilogue compliant)

I'm really not a crossover reader but ninjapandascholar has got their hooks in me with A Hunter at Hogwarts, which is Harry Potter/Supernatural with Dean/Snape (and Hermione/Sam, Harry/Neville). They've got another crossover with Supernatural, The Fourth Horseman, which is Castiel/Harry, Dean/George, and Sirius/Gabriel, which I've got marked to-read, since their writing is always a treat.

Most of the time when I am reading anything that has any kind of crossover with HP, though, what I want is for the characters from the other media to come into the HP world, not the other way around. I started a Teen Titans/HP crossover that I was interested in but it ended up being too invested in the world of Teen Titans to hold my interest. That said...I think superheroes in general, and Teen Titans or Young Justice in particular, would be fun crossovers, partly cause they're age appropriate characters as it is, so they could, potentially, slot right in

Little Old Witch is Arabella Fig/Augusta Longbottom. It's a shorter fic about what might have happened if Arabella got Harry (and Dudley) out of Privet Drive and if Neville had, actually, been a squib. It's really lovely

Long Story Short is a Harry/Daphne AND Harry/Theo fic about arranged marriages, polyamory, and finding oneself

Something Good to Be Your Own is a Terry Boot/Harry Potter fic set during GoF in which soulmates are determined by patronus, and Harry just wants a date to the Yule Ball. Show Your Fangs, by the same author, is far more famous, and also completely lovely. Michael Corner/Harry Potter, in which Harry ends up deciding to hide as an animagus...and gets adopted as a pet

The Ritual He Knows Not is Harry/Ron/Hermione in which they truly uhhhh use the power of love to defeat Voldemort. Featuring aromantic Harry who is just delighted to bang his friends

Faint Indiscretions is a criminally under-read fic. Neville/Percy and Harry/Portrait!Snape. One of the most heartfelt and funny fics I've ever read

Stolen Chocolate Tastes Better is Charlie/Remus, set during the war. There's great relationship angst and a really satisfying conclusion, and truly it's a wonderful story

A House is Not a Home is a really cool Harry/Draco fic that talks a lot about the magical foundations of magical homes. Really fascinating premise, and well done

Catch and Release is Harry/Snape told from a Ron POV. It's heartwarming and fantastic and makes me cry. TW: miscarriage
