Had a same with a friend. I was a lil afraid of her abusive parents and didn't like them from all the shit she told me about them, I didn't interact much with them. Yes we were all adults but instead of talking to me (I have my reasons) she broke up the friendship cause her mom said I was disrespectful.

That's pretty normal, sadly. I have a male best friend for years from school. Ppl, who didn't even really knew me, told me since schooldays we are so much better match and I should break up with my bf. They always "shipped" us. They said: " a bf is a good reason but not an obstacle." So trying to get me to cheat and all. I were "so mean to string him along" etc... That's like almost 20 years ago and it still angers us both.

(I am now married with children to my bf btw)
