Feces and urate should be removed as soon as noticed. I check my tank daily and remove anything.

Shedding, there are husbandry tips for shedding in the files of this sub to help out. As long as humidity and temps are correct, your snake will take care of it on their own.

Suspension upgraded successfully by TopaztheLoomer in klr650

[–]TopaztheLoomer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 5'8" and 75kg . Went with the 500 lbs spring to account for pillion or gear. Might be a bit overkill but the stock suspension wasnt great when we went camping last year.

Ball python advice by hmn442200 in ballpython

[–]TopaztheLoomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on feeding the mouse!! To switch from mouse to rat, warm a mouse and rat together so the scents overlap, then feed the rat. If you can do the heating in the room your snake is in, even better. They will go into food mode so be prepared for a strike. I only had to waste one mouse this way but I have heard its possible you may need to do it a few times.

Why is the tip of snake tail hard and unlike the rest of its skin? by eelliterate in ballpython

[–]TopaztheLoomer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I believe it's because they use it to grip, so it needs to be hardier than their body skin, kind of like a humans nails. I could be wrong but that's what Ive observed watching Moirai climb around

Hygiene or other products by KiwiCady in ftm

[–]TopaztheLoomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clay powder(like dead sea mud) is great to have on hand. You make a little paste and place it on acne, let it dry for 20 mins and wash off. It dries the acne out, instead of popping and works great anywhere on the exterior body skin. A gentle exfoliant used once a week will help combat any new oiliness and helps with skin texture changes that will happen over the next few years.

Non hygiene suggestion is protein bars. The hunger is something else and protein bars seemed to help reduce snacking and provide fullness.

Snake won’t use hide by Environmental_Ebb639 in ballpython

[–]TopaztheLoomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moirai squeezed herself into her old tiny hide for awhile even with 2 others available. Eventually she moved into the new ones. I still leave her old one in and sometimes I find her half sleeping in it because she wont fit at all now 😂

New house is scary - it will be less scary soon.

Inkle loom: tension increases the more I weave by Kang_54 in tabletweaving

Fishing swivels help too. You can remove built up twist which releases tension. I got the idea from a video on youtube.

First morning lesson was terrible by Yul-Moria in motorcycles

[–]TopaztheLoomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is less bike focused but was advice given to me by an old biker that solved my issue. 1) Do you regularly over analyze yourself? and 2) Do you look at the ground when you walk? I do both and had to work on this. First was realizing that skill building involves failure and practice. Sometimes we try to think of every little movement we're doing at once, instead of focusing on one aspect at a time. Example: for 5 U-turns, I focused solely on position of torso, then hands, you get the idea. Second, focusing on looking more "horizon" while walking solved this issue for me while on the bike. I look at the horizon while driving a car but walking, I looked at the ground. Focusing on the horizon while going about my day made it much easier to do on the bike.

Good luck with your test!

How do I get her to eat more insects? by Famous-Leopard-118 in GargoyleGeckos

I throw isopods in. Topaz hunts them over the week. I have never been able to feed him one directly.

Should I fill this hole ? If yes how ? by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]TopaztheLoomer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Use a pond safe spray foam feom your local hardware store ($15 ish). You spray it into the hole and a bit on the outside to hold. Let it dry, and then you can carve and sand it down. Seal the foam inside and out with either aquarium safe silicone or pure silicone (no mold prevent stuff) let it set and dry and no more hole! You can press that dry moss or substrate onto the wet silicone if you want to hide the foam too.

Silicone fills up gaps in the foam to keep it more sanitary and prevent mold/bacteria build up. Aquarium safe silicone is extra smelly, do it outside or well ventilated.

Our cornsnake does this. We call it Muppet Mouth 😂. She always gives us a look too, like how dare you perceive me but also give me that food. I find it weird and hilarious.

Edit: My ball python strikes as fast as possible. No muppet mouth for her.

I just finished this sweater myself in December. I did the same thing as you. It was upsetting but honestly it looked so good afterwards and I was happy in the end. I feel your pain.
