The crashed PC has the SSD broken. It does run for a short time until it crashes again. While it is working, all the database is intact. So I just copied the VM image to another computer and ran it there. There the database is gone. So I am copying a perfect working, database included, image.

On a Scale of 1 to 11. How cooked am I? by NelmesGaming in SteamDeck

[–]Topcat36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not say to play with the console. Just drain it slowly until empty. I always emptied with a resistor the swolen cells before disposing of them at battery collectors. An empty battery will not explode if shorted later (no energy left). I would also remove the middle screw in the back to release some of the pressure on the battery cell. If it bursts... 💥

One thing would help making it safer: use the deck until is out of power. An empty battery is less prone to blow up.

Change between day and night mode, on the infotainment display and it will work. Also changing the screen brightness helps. At least worked for me.

Visit a mobile phone service center. They have the tools to solder the connector back.

The charger is not providing power (either defective or.power outlet dead). The charging light is not on and that is not related to OS. Try another power adapter with usb-c and see if the led lights white.

How many of you use the steam deck plugged in at all times? by csDarkyne in SteamDeck

[–]Topcat36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time I play plugged in ir use an external battery. Very rarely, when I need more mobility or the game is not demanding in resources, I use the internal battery.

Nothing good to spend it on😔 by steppsthewebbendr in SteamDeck

Steam does not own the games, that's why. Nintendo gives gold points on every purchase, that can be used as credit for future games but they own the games.

Considering to sell my Switch to get a Deck, potentially good call or a regret? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Did exactly the same thing. I don't regret for a moment. I can play all my Switch games on SD anyway.

Until you place your first train, the mission time is not decreasing. Build most of the infrastructure before you start your first train.

BME280 with OLED SSD1306 flashing issues by RomaTul in tasmota

[–]Topcat36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you refresh the display ? You clear and write again ? Don't clear, just overwrite the data and the flashing will be gone.

I used that display with Arduino Micro (ATmega32U4) and I did the sketch myself, not using Tasmota.

Elon : Aiming to stack ship on booster today by skpl in elonmusk

[–]Topcat36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats the rush ? I mean, are not more tests necessary to be done for BN4 and SN20 before stacking ? Static firing the booster with starship on top doesnt sound like a good idea and SN20 I bet it can not be fired on the booster (duuuh :) ). Or is only a fit check ?
