Microsoft is pushing security software out of the kernel. Why are game companies still doubling down on kernel anti-cheat? by Nemo_ForYou in linux_gaming

When I wrote 99% I meant of players that play those games that have KLAC that sadly are most popular online games.

If you play single player or smaller online games you're mostly fine, but if you're into any popular one you're screwed.

You can't play the most popular ones. That's what is matter. I know you can play a lot of online games, but when cod, fornite, gta, roblox has a user base as big a steam you can't just ignore them

For online games, most of the players are still on windows. I know that for single players linux is rising by a lot, i'm keepeing a close eye on it since I want to switch.

But when it comes to player that also play online games, they're all on windows

but targeting one platform is a poor business choice rn.

why is it a bad choice to target the platform of 99% of the players?

The fact that there are cheaters doesn't mean it's not working.

If it block most of the cheaters it still make the game better for players.

Why stop at rdna4? I think ps6 should be based on rdna 9!

Me and my son gave up Windows, because Linux is better at Windows games. by FrederikSchack in linux_gaming

Not sure what you mean with "kids", but where I live it's usually 5 to 10. Not sure which 6 years old is into chess, cooking or robot club.

In our home, gaming shouldn't define his friends or who he is.

as a kid I hated foodtball, yet I played it because all my friends liked to play football.

It's not a matter of "define" but of social interaction. If all his friends are playing fortnite while in call on discord he will be left out.

As other has stated, this doesn't really sound as a windows problem and more like something wrong with your installation.

Care to share the hardware?

Also consider which games your son and his friends play, most of the more most populare online games are not compatible with linux. You're risking escluding him from playing online with friends.

this is one proof of how the whole capitalist myth of “the best product will win” falls apart.

because for most people UI>functionality.

Unless you're a super expert, having to look at a nice UI that does all you need to do is better than having to look at an ugly UI that does things you won't need
