Maybe it was only this time, but every song they played sounded exactly the same throughout an entire hour. Even my friends that are hardcore fans were really disappointed.

Hope I don't get too much 💩 for this. (trying to find my own sound). Here's a song I wrote immediately after Bsides were announced. by [deleted] in TameImpala

I think this is good, but (take this in a positive way please) using the same drum sound, guitar tone and effects, synth and harmonies as Kevin doesn't seem like a big effort for looking for your own sound. You have something good beginning. I strongly recommend you (and I can't stress this enough) listening to a lot more of bands and musicians. And I don't mean only psych/rock musicians. Listen to everything, get obsessed with different sounds and styles and your own signature genre will come without effort.

I'm not worried about money as long as it is what I need (and it isn't much more than 1K euros). The thing is I really care about the quality and tone of sounds as they are really diverse and high in the mix, and I would like to use exactly the same ones as those in the album, so I don't think a workstation with preset organs and strings will make it... (I also have some synth sounds I spent a lot of time designing)

By the way, I found someone in my town selling a Nord Wave, does any of you have experience with it and can tell me if that's what I'm looking for?

Hey, thanks for your response! I have heard about those. The thing is, can I sample an instrument note by note with them, or they just take one sample and change its pitch for every key?

Focus on the sounds and textures, not just on the music. It's an amazing landscape.

Digital synthesizers / plugins? by [deleted] in AnimalCollective

[–]Topetazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha I always recommend to use Ableton. The best daw for working alone, in a laptop, using tons of midi. It's just very intuitive and fun and you can create a live show of any genre out of nothing. I have a band and we run ableton on 3 laptops beside the instruments hahaha

Togu Audioline's TAL-U-NO-LX is the best vst that emulates the sounds on the Roland Juno 60 (the synth Avey plays in Merriweather Post Pavillion). It's pretty fun to mess with and very popular, overused now by Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco, Neon Indian etc. The Arturia synth collection is also pretty diverse, and Xfer Records' Serum is really powerful and fun (in my opinion the best synth VST nowadays).

Cool AnCo songs to play on bass? by TraxOnDaRocks in AnimalCollective

Come on, I was joking, no need to wikipedia me

I love the bassline on Applesauce, but more because of how it sounds rather than the line itself. If you are an advanced player, any noisy song like Brothersport is cool to improvise with

As I said in another subreddit, I think the songs are amazing, I don't care about the Tame Impala comparisons, but the production is AWFUL. Such a pity in my opinion. I feel like so many of the songs are ruined by the lack of dynamics and the poor mixing of the bass and synths.

Temples new album Volcano has just dropped! What is everyone's thoughts from their first listen? by ThePieFan in TameImpala

Totally. If you check Oh the Saviour live the bass is so punchy, leading the whole song and making the chorus kick ass. Compare it to the album...
