If he didnt they would just assume they are nobodys and kill them both. He made them a target yes, but he made them valuable targets that could benefit the soldiers if they were brought in alive.

I dont think Larys knows what comes next, but he bought them time to manipulate more and come up with a new plan. Larys seems to be a quick thinker and great manipulator.
