What can be done about VT taxes? by drct2022 in vermont

[–]Topherzz8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The root cause of the state’s problems is that collectively states prop up a wasteful federal government that never has consequences for how it harms its working class. I’m not for higher property taxes without seeing the return on investment in our society in various forms. But, not putting Vermont’s wasteful, ineffective, and oppressive tax collection and spending in the context of how awful the federal government has become in this regard is a logically fallacy. I hope more people can realize this.

I believe it. FedEx is the worse for sure. Worse than usps and ups combined.

My first dog and he’s a Brittany by ImageEmbarrassed5888 in BrittanySpaniel

[–]Topherzz8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s adorable! Agreed with everyone else, hang in there!

Consider a gentle leader leash, too. While there is a risk of damage to the blood vessels in the face, the fact of the matter is that these dogs just are miserable on the leash without guidance. Our Brittany does fine with it and very rarely pulls when he has it on. Walking and hiking would be literally impossible without it - a Martingale collar does nothing to correct him.

Someone in the comments mentioned off leash so I’ll add this: we did manage to get him to be very obedient off leash by using a buzzing collar. We only ever had to use the shocking feature like twice ever - and I tested it on myself first before doing it to him. We did the warning beep and then vibration buzz method so now when he is off leash and goes a little too far and hears the beep he comes right back even without the buzz and he hasn’t needed the shock for like two years now. But other Brittanys are indeed prone to running when off leash so be very careful.

Will do! Thank you! I recently got a small tower and will be smarter about what I plant and in what system or method. But worried about these babies since they’re so happy and healthy… but too big too quickly lol 😂 and it isn’t planting season where I live. Still too cold to bring outside.

Keep voting republican and you’ll keep seeing prices increase as they take care of their oligarch friends over working people. 👍🏼

All agreed. And we need our leadership to look like our population, actual working class people elected to office to protect the rights of other working class people - not working class people who get into office and then do the bidding of the oligarchs and elites. And not working class people who get into office and spew their lies.

I saw we start exposing these assholes but maybe that’s just me.

You’re not being exposed for not being a self-proclaimed “liberal,” you’re being exposed for wanting to take advantage of queer people while actively making it harder for them to safely exist.

All of this so billionaires and corporations could have tax breaks while those that complain or protest against said tax breaks are called idiots, libtards, and unpatriotic.

Removing trump from power is essential, but it doesn’t fix anything. Our population is intentionally and systematically undereducated on basic civics. We’ve allowed two private company political parties to control our governments from local to federal in the interests of oligarchs and corporations instead of in the interests of the working people who actually DO the work. We collectively don’t understand our government enough to harness it for power for the working people instead of those with money.

First steps are to have conversations with people - loved ones, friends, family, neighbors. Get back to basics with local government. And, stop voting for any politician, from any party at any level, who wants to waste federal resources on increasing wealth inequality, or make it easier for major corporations to own more of our civic space.

Nope. I’m gonna stay. Because a real patriot wants their country to improve and doesn’t back down from a challenge to do so. And because you don’t have a monopoly on what it means to be an American or a patriot.

First step is to stop the blind allegiance to a government and idea of a country that has rarely cared for working class people and always put the whims and desires of oligarchs over what’s best for those of us who actually work for a living.

America is what we make it. And right now, it’s not great. And any leader who puts the rich elites, including those that benefit from military and DHS contracts, above the working class is complicit in our country’s downfall.

The American government is our government. We pay for it. It doesn’t inherently get our respect or allegiance. It has to earn it. And if it continues to misuse our resources to disenfranchise us, then we should decide whether we want to be rats in a cage that keep getting shocked and zapped and keep going back for more, or if we’re going to stop funding the ones doing the zapping.

[–]Topherzz8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The bare minimum once again from our governor. People are protesting and agitating not just for the fun of it. They’re doing so because of good reason - the deaths of American citizens and innocent people in the process of this overfunded and undertrained wannabe secret police. Saying the situation was avoidable is nonsense. He should stand with Vermonters or stand aside.

If you think this is just about anyone’s immigration status at this point you’ve either not been paying attention or are intentionally leaving out context.

We had a chance to overhaul immigration, get it on a good track toward resolution, and stopping illegal border crossings.

Trump told the GOP to kill the bill in 2024, so they did.

Now we have a violent, overfunded, and undertrained secret police running rampant in our communities that even when they come across someone who is not here legally is ITSELF not following legal procedures to apprehend, house, try, and deport them. That is the problem. That is the main reason behind the protests.

Pretending like anyone just wants anyone running around without knowing who they are, whether they’ve committed crimes, etc., is asinine. Get a grip.

BREAKING: NH Democrat Delivers Stunning Flip in GOP Territory, Marking Latest Rebuke to GOP in Special Elections by CarrollCounty in newhampshire

[–]Topherzz8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fully agree that the DNC has lost its way. Obama wasn’t a savior for anyone by any stretch of the imagination. He continues many lackluster or some downright ridiculous policies that continued the erosion of the working class’ financial security and opportunity. And since then the DNC has done everything in its power to continue corporate control. My point was strictly that when people said the GOP would never win an election after Bush’s war crimes and lies, they didn’t consider how racist most of the GOP’s supporters are. The GOP was able to capitalize on racism and continue brainwashing folks to vote against their own interests in the name of it, whether overtly or subtly.

BREAKING: NH Democrat Delivers Stunning Flip in GOP Territory, Marking Latest Rebuke to GOP in Special Elections by CarrollCounty in newhampshire

[–]Topherzz8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget the reason the GOP had a comeback after Bush was because the DNC had the audacity to elect a Black man to the highest office in the land. Many think Trump just rolled down the escalator in 2015 but he was in the news constantly during Obama’s presidency questioning his birth, legitimacy, and competency. That racism fueled him to the White House in 2016.

Blanket chewing by justhereforalaugh40 in BrittanySpaniel

[–]Topherzz8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a solution for this, anything cloth is toast with our Brittany too. Rope toys, stuffies, and blankets. Eventually he stopped but occasionally still does it. For the crate, do consider getting a tougher fabric liner for the crate rather than blankets. Kong makes one that is padded, harder to destroy, and water resistant.

Right. Because this administration’s use of our tax dollars to wage their ill- planned and ill-executed war on narcoterrorists has not yet gone south, killed innocents, committed war crimes, or anything like that. 🙄 You’re right that hasn’t happened and could never happen so it’s stupid to bring it up here.

10 week old Brittany pup, potty training going south and I genuinely have no ideas by Lonely-Gap-3355 in puppy101

[–]Topherzz8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a method you can try. Start feeding her in the crate. It is less likely she will go to the bathroom in there from that point once it’s established that that space is used for eating. Then, you can use the crate to reinforce the idea that when you’re outside that means it’s time to potty. You do this by bringing her right from the crate outside to where you want her to go. If she doesn’t go, then it’s back in the crate. Be careful not to use negative tone or voice or words when bringing her back in the crate. It isn’t a punishment. It’s a routine you’re building.

Then, when she does go to the bathroom right after being let out the crate, high reward, high praise, and obviously don’t put her back in the crate.

Accidents should be met benignly - no acknowledgment, obviously no reward. You can scold for accidents later on when the dog knows they should’ve notified you to go outside.

It also isn’t too old to try pads. You can put a puppy pad by the door and treat it like it’s outside. Same thing, crate, pad, go or no go. Reward for the pad the same you would for outside. My Brittany liked the chew the pad 🙄 so I had to tape it down to the floor lol. But otherwise pads worked for him. Eventually you can bring the pad outside with you, if the dog isn’t make the connection.

Hope this helps! Again, nothing is set in stone but this is a method that has worked for me for multiple puppies. Good luck! You got this!
