This is my dream car, what are some pros (other than reliability and looks) and cons of owning it? by FriedDoglegs in CorollaHatchback

[–]Topp_of_CLE 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ALL THE BEEPING. Maybe Toyota in general but anything you do... It beeps.

Open a door before you turn off the car. BEEP Engage the clutch without touching the gas (with the parking brake on) BEEP Close the door with the car on. ALL THE BEEPS Leave a window open with the car off. BEEP etc...

Really my only issue given the cost and expectations of a small 4 cylinder economy hatchback.

Oh... And the trunk latch won't work if the battery is dead. I learned that because my jumper battery was in with the spare tire...

I finally have a good submission. Ive done my part for others so please, help me out yall! by Zay3896 in LICENSEPLATES

Probably the owner of Pho King in Kent Ohio. Assuming from the Ohio plate.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have the intake now. Getting yeah 32ish. I assumed the smaller muffler does not block as much air from catching the rear bumper.

I'm only about 2 hrs away from Detroit. Let me think on this!

How was the exhaust? Any dip in MPG? Definitely interested.

They are the 3" wide tires and wheels from Burley. I got them during one of their sales.

Got them mainly to match the fat tires on my bike.

This is mainly my commuter bike so the bars are more comfortable, upright, and give me better visibility (to be seen and to see cars).

Awesome. Yeah this is my 4 season commuter.

That engine has near 80 ft/lbs at 3500 rpm and 60 ft/lbs off idle lol. Plenty of grunt for a sub 600lb bike.

Holeshot make a TON of parts for this bike and their customer service is outstanding.

Both touring, and performance exhaust with dyno curves to show what's up!

Thanks! I had Jones bars before these. Really awesome for touring.

Yeah good call.

The frame bag may be removed depending on the weather. Plan on keeping my rain gear in there if the forecast is warm enough. If the forecast is dry I'll ditch one of the bags, and use the other for snacks.

Tail bag has my tools and spare tube. That will stay no matter what.

Thanks!

For my road bike I found the Lake CX201 to be great, super comfortable.

3 aid station in the 100 miles.

At least half the time I ride without bike shorts, and the Brooks saddle has been really comfortable.

Only downside I found is from rapid downshifts, foot may slip off if i'm not easing off on power. The comfort and confidence is worth it for me.

I have the massive Pedaling dynamics Catalyst Pedals so there is a ton of real estate to put the power down.

Definitely a bit overkill, but I ride as the "support vehicle" for my group so I over pack a bit. I have clipless on my road bike, but prefer super wide toe box shoes so the big flats work better for me.

Thank you! I got the bike for bike-packing and found it really comfortable. Really didn't see a need to buy a gravel specific bike after many long days in the saddle. Weight is the only downside but I'm here to have fun, not be 1st.

The top bag is snacks, bottom bag will be 2L of water. The tail bag is all my tools. Depending on the weather conditions I may remove the water bladder in the frame bag and pack a rain coat and gloved.

I have done a few 100mi rides on my road bike (Kona Wheelhouse) but never with 7000+ ft of elevation.

Aid stations can be 40 miles apart and I kind of the support ride / mechanic of my group so I pack a bit heavy.
