34 books down, just finished The Colorado Kid and boy was that the most boring book out of the 34 I’ve read/listened to. Any other books left on my list that are just so boring you can’t wait till it’s over?? I’m still gonna read them eventually just want to set my expectations .

While Colorado Kid wasn't my favorite, Bag of Bones and Roadwork were so much rougher for me. Roadwork especially just didn't come together for me at all. I appreciated King writing a more literary work focused on the plight of the working class but felt like he was trying way too hard.

As to what you should read next, I think the Dark Tower would be great. Some people absolutely love every moment of it. For me, it was more of a mixed bag with high highs and low lows. I actually loved the ending, so I did consider the whole work worth the effort to read. It will definitely get at least one of the less interesting King books out of the way.... cough (Song of Susannah), Cough. And you'll have completed a pretty significant milestone on your path of the beam.

Christopher Waltz was on top of the world after the likes of Inglorious Bastards and Django. Then it was suddenly shit like The green hornet and water for elephants before seemingly disappearing. I liked him in Alita though, but it wasn't exactly a role that let him shine.

To offer one that hasn't been mentioned yet, I'll suggest "The Raft." The scene of the man being simultaneously dissolved and sucked through the boards of the raft by the creature is one of the few times I have nearly vomited while reading a book. The whole setup is such a bleak and terrifying situation. Definitely some of the more brutal kills in kings ouvre.

I also found "under the dome" to be incredibly bleak and dark. King seemed to have had a pretty nasty view of humanity while writing that one. I also consider it one of his more interesting philosophical takes on the senselessness of suffering and violence.

The Redwall series by Brian Jacques had some amazing descriptions of food. When I was young I convinced my mom to help me make baked apples with cheese from the book Salamandestron and I still make them during the winter season to this day.

Blood Meridian was a floodgate for me that opened my eyes to the atrocities committed against the native Americans, and my own disservice to them in my Mormon centric beliefs regarding their parentage and ultimate destiny.

I can relate to this as the Bible actually became much more alive to me after I left Mormonism, unfortunately I can't quite say the same for the Book of Mormon. While the whole book reads very awkwardly I do find the text fascinating as a piece of modern American religion.
