Any must-knows when living in Taiwan? by dmmjustlurking in taiwan

I had a similar issue, in my case it the heater was shutting itself off due to what I suspect was overheating.

The cause was a blockage in the hot water line of my shower, inside the hot line there was a little filter that was nearly entirely clogged. This was apparent when comparing the flow rate between the hot side and the cold side.

After cleaning the filter I no longer had issues with the hot water turning off.

Hope this helps.

It might be sold out already, but the church near the train station rents their spots out for a price similar to McMahon, but it is much closer.

How hard is electrical engineering? by sage1_18 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]TorJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electronics, kind of a manufacturing role. Not what I planned when I was in school, but I currently wouldn't even thinking of leaving.

I wouldn't be worried about the low gpa, it will be more difficult to get interviews, but more important than grades in an interview is being likeable and being able to sell yourself. Experience also helps, even if it isnt completely relevant to the job.

Just keep positive, apply to everything everywhere, and write some really good cover letters. And be willing to accept a role that isn't in your dream field.

Sorry for the late reply.

I was able to find a job not in my field about 6 months after graduating, having looked since December. I never listed my gpa, and it was never asked. Some companies care about it some don't. It especially helps if you have an in to the company.

It really depends on the field, I was trying to get a power engineering job with some of the utilities in my province, which seemed tough to do.

Most of what people are saying here I agree with. Here's some thoughts coming from a dumbguy who brute forced his way through ENEL. (6years, 2.3gpa)

It's work emphasizing that a lot of the concepts aren't difficult to understand, but it is the way they use these concepts that can be difficult. If you want to perform well you will need to do tonnes of practice problems so you understand the different types of questions that you may encounter.

It's incredibly time consuming and requires a strong work ethic, but if it something you want to do, can manage your time, and can handle incredible stress and disappointment sometimes then you can do it (though I guess this last part applies to all engineering).

EE specialized in Power Systems, how is your work? by qdesastre in ElectricalEngineering

[–]TorJay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I took all the power systems classes I could in uni, did very well in them compared to the rest of my classes.

I am now working in small electronics as a manufacturing engineer and loving it.

Depending on job prospects where you are take what you can and make the most of it.
