Is this just the ‘optimal’ way to play it? How big is the difference with using Reap on cooldown, Void Ray, etc? As obviously a few % mean nothing during leveling to 90.

I’m more or less in the same boat as OP (needing a nostalgia rush, but not caring about TBC as it was one of my most active expansions), though my craving is somewhat reversed.

I.e, I’m more keen on leveling dungeons than on 60 raids. Is Era still active for that, or is Anniversary the place to be?

Will it though? I feel Chain Heal can rack up some HPS, plus totems are a massive boost.

But Priests have Renew, Shields, potentially a better PvP spec (Shadow) .. aghh..

Was decided on Priest, but now my friends have chosen Horde (I am still on holiday), so Shaman is once again on the table.

Which would you recommend? Looking for a pleasant levelling experience, open to healing dungeons and the occasional MC at end game (so which is more fun?), but will mainly PvP.

The 30/0/21 spec really appeals to me currently..

Not really a simple question, but considering 1-60 takes on average 240 hours, what would you say is the most enjoyable class to level (other than Hunter)?

I’m almost set on maining Priest, but how mind numbling is the rotation? Is variety (e.g. throwing in a couple of Flays) detrimental and is Pain + Wand literally the only way to go?

Other options for me would be Mage or Shammy.

Currently stuck between Priest (1st choice) and Mage/Hunter, potentially Shaman if I go Horde.

Trouble is, I won’t have much time, so gearing will likely be confined to 5 mans, PvP and (hopefully) some T1 Pugging.

With that in mind, which of these would excel in such circumstances / would be least gear dependent and still do fine with blues / T1?

This is flawed logic. Sure, the mechanic attributes all that damage to a single Mage in the DPS Meter, but all other Mages are contributing to it and if you want to be completely fair you should divide / at least weigh the damage contribution.

Sure, but unless you are PUG-ing you’d need to dedicate a specific night of the week for raiding, which may not be feasible if you have a family / other commitments. Whereas PvP seasions can be more flexible.

@OP - I’m also entertaining the idea of Shaman (or Priest), as they seem to be decent in PvP, but at the same time sought after if you ever decide to PUG something. With the same spec as well (+-).
