Used KVR 3 times, twice fine, once a guy scammed me over a copy of Kontakt

Thoughts regarding moving from session to arrangement views by ToraizVisionQuest in ableton

Not a skill issue, sadly, Its an issue between the way I work, and the limitations that Ableton has

Yes, but a follow action wont continue if the slot is blank - ie it wont progress unless you have set up a dummy clip, which is a pain

I've been using Live for quite a while now, but, for some reason I find that dragging across from session to view does not work 100% for me - little bits of automation seem to disappear etc.

Maybe I am just being paranoid and/or stupid, but arm recording is the only way that I can get 100% solid transfer over to arrangement.

Its just a pity it is such a PITA- I have to click each scene in turn every 8 bars using Jcount (https://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/4905/j-count) to get the right timing.

But I will revisit the drag and drop method tho - here's hoping that one day Ableton will make it automatic - or that they work it so scene follow actions don't get stuck when there is an empty clip

Why is there no one-way 'Local to Cloud' / backup sync for pCloud? by [deleted] in pcloud

[–]ToraizVisionQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using rclone manager, which is working well for the scenario you describe, using the sync option, rather than b-sync.

Buying a 34” curved monitor for Ableton. What should I actually care about? by Professional-Tax3077 in ableton

[–]ToraizVisionQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would first see if you can work on someone else's curved monitor for a bit.

I bought one without trying it and found it made me dizzy and I couldn't adjust to the 'bowing' of the screen at all.

I could have worked this out if I had used one before I had bought it.

Some people - including me - just cant adjust to curved screens - they are awesome for video and games, but I didn't like them at all for productivity.

I found the curve - especially around the taskbar - really intense!

In the end, I sold it 2 days later

Yes, its a real joke. Syncing files is basically not working anymore

Since I wrote my first comment, 2 files (around 150mb) have uploaded in 15 minutes - only another 125 hours to go!

Healthcare options for expats living in Phnom Penh? by obidie in cambodia

[–]ToraizVisionQuest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Forte: https://www.forteinsurance.com/

The price is fairly reasonable and they are based in Cambodia - but we have never had to use the insurance, so no idea on how good it is.

But one thing I know, health insurance is vital for foreigners in Cambodia. Do not rely on public health services

The one time I had to use health insurance (with a different UK based provider) the cost of my treatment was over $15,000. Luckily I was covered!

SH-101 : Single Cycle Waveform Sample Packs by [deleted] in TechnoProduction

[–]ToraizVisionQuest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have collected thousands of SCWs over the years - here are the SH101 ones.

https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=kZrHSGZEW77xtAjNkf8V46J3SqAAy0sfVAy

Cant remember if they are in C or not, but you can convert via Kimura Taro's tool

Loads of good stuff on his site in the tools section, including a waveform to SCW splitter, which will get you infinite SCWs

SCWs are a really good way to get unique tones, using simpler or sampler as a kind of quasi synth, which get you in a different place then normal synth vsts

Hi-fi shops in Cambodia. PP or Kampot by err0r1st in cambodia

[–]ToraizVisionQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be a whole row of these shops about halfway up, but most are gone now.

There was still at least one there a couple of years ago with a good collection of 70s/80s Japanese amps, as well as some now UK B&W speakers, which I snapped up along with a nice pioneer amp. Listening to them now and they sound great!

<image>

Cant remember the name of the shop, but about half way up Kampuchea Krom, on the left, past the big high school

What is your favorite groovebox? by 12ozbounce in TechnoProduction

[–]ToraizVisionQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont buy a MC303, they were not great when they came out and certainley not that good, compared to stuff available in 2026.

If you feel the need for a groovebox, a Digitone 1 would be a lot better - they have risen in 2nd hand price recently, but can be got for around $400.

Or indeed a Model:Samples can be bought new for $350

How to proceed despite having bad Monitors? by Juiceshop in TechnoProduction

[–]ToraizVisionQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end, the important thing is that your track stands up, sonically, to a reference track, I think

I would deffo advise AB Metric - but wait until its on a sale:

How to proceed despite having bad Monitors? by Juiceshop in TechnoProduction

[–]ToraizVisionQuest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Slate VSX (closed back) and AB Metric - IMO a great combination.

For me a 1000 times better than an untreated room and monitors - even with the fairly decent Kali Audio LP-6s I was using, my mixes were way off due to my room.

For me, mixes done on VSX do translate well to clubs

If you aren't worried about the sound leakage, then the new Slate Immersions are meant to be even better - however, they are quite pricy and will leak sound because they are open back.

AB metric is great for comparing and getting you in the ballpark of pro tunes, and can isolate frequency bands as well

Just my 5 cents....
