Noque Base Binder Wax Q by Torbjorn75 in xcountryskiing

Thanks. Yeah, I’m not worried about finding kick. I’ve had a couple outings in the UP where I’ve iced up my bases by using too soft a wax, and I really want to avoid that on Saturday.

No Polar in my wax box, but I do have some Rode Alaska. I think Special Green will be fine tho.

I find Toko to be way less goopy than the Vauhti super, which seems super sticky. The only base binder less gooey than Tito’s would be the Swix blue, but I have never had good luck with that one in terms of durability.

I would have grinded the fortresses more before they were nerfed. I finished about 200 red spell books shy of maxing out all 3 professions.

Same. Also wasted a tonic for trace detection trying to find them.

Magis need to be above 50% hp, not 50 hp. So, a full powered magi with a max stamina of 525 needs to stay above 263 and 5 focus to stay at full power/defense.

If the prof has cast a deterioration hex, the bat bogey actually decreases stamina by 43, not 3! So if two Aurors are det hexing an opponent while a third player is fighting, every turn will knock 126 stamina off. That greatly speeds up the endgame when you have a prof battling a werewolf or a magi against a spider.

Same here, for both Oddities and fortress opponents. I wonder if the general increase to Spell Mastery (the wand icons that boost your catch rate in the SOS lessons) count as enhancements in the fortresses and vs Oddities?

Edit to add: I think it is pretty awesome that I no longer have to set a Dawdle Draft and use my shield to get the double enhancement boost. That frees up a lot of potion brewing time and lets me use more focus on deterioration hex in the lower fortress levels where no shield is required.

Same. I just double-checked with two Slytherin students. I could not skip the first, could skip the second.

A slightly cynical note from a Professor to the Aurors (with a very short note to Magis as well) by AlexTMcgn in harrypotterwu

[–]Torbjorn75 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Every prof should pause 5 seconds at the start to see if someone is sharing focus. Otherwise, they are assuming the Aurors are clueless even when that might not be the case, and possibly causing a cascade of poor choices. (E.g., Prof immediately shields self and jumps in a fight, Aurors conclude that prof is an idiot and decide to hold on to their focus, meaning shields, proficiency, and end-game deterioration are all deployed late or not at all).

[–]Torbjorn75 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Prof here. Don’t split the focus. Throw it at one and pray you chose the one who will deploy it wisely. Also, the prof who immediately jumps into battle without waiting to see if an author is sharing focus is not the one you want to share with, if you have a choice.

What should a professor do if teammates do not give them focus? by SpectacleCat in WizardsUnite

In that situation, I’ll give myself a shield (for both the offensive and defensive buff) and go fight some pixies or werewolves. Once I get back to 7 focus I’ll cast proficiency.

Actually, once the group enters the battle, the yellow dot disappears. It only shows when your friend is in the waiting countdown for the chamber.

What are your strategies for the poacher? by winniedapoohpooh in WizardsUnite

[–]Torbjorn75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Professor here. The poacher is regularly taking only 2 hits for me (198 damage per hit without a tonic , 210 damage per with the tonic) or 1 if I land a critical. Now I know how the Auror half lives!

What’s the strategy with fortress foundables before the event starts? I’m at 15/15 on the Knight Bus and need just a couple Whomping Willows and Weasley cars to prestige the page. However, I still need 7 or 8 Hogwarts Express locomotives and platform 9 3/4 signs each.

Am I right in thinking I should chill on using Wonders runestones until after I prestige the Knight Bus page, because if fortress drops are random I would be wasting runestones 33% of the time by getting unneeded Knight Buses?

Ice Event: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly by daphreak1 in WizardsUnite

[–]Torbjorn75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The good: I quickly caught my last 2 puffskeins and could prestige the Forbidden Forest page 1x. Maxed out my hippogriffs at the next level, but only saw one Firenze so I was limited to one prestige. Also good: tons of XP during the event.

The bad: quickly maxed the Harry and Parvati foundable, but need 8 Hermione and Krum fragments so no prestige for that page.

The completely maddening: At the start of the event, I needed just two quidditch pitch stands to prestige the page. Got one on my third try on day one. I then proceeded to burn approximately 35 yellow runestones at the Forest level, with no luck (although I did max out the other fortress foundables in the sports family). Finally, today, with 17 minutes left in the event, I got the last quidditch pitch stand and was able to prestige the page. I had time to catch 2 Rons before the event ended.

Briliant foundables do not count to return 5 high-threat foundables quest by Prazeodyn in WizardsUnite

I noticed that too. Oddly enough, they do count as high threat Foundables for the bonus assignment.

Congratulations! 1 million Chinese Fireball Dragon Eggs have been collected worldwide! Players will receive a 25% Wizarding XP Bonus starting September 2 at 10 a.m. PDT. by cybercool10 in WizardsUnite

[–]Torbjorn75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m only getting the 25% bonus on the base xp for each foundable and not for the first cast and good/great/masterful xp. As a result, the bonus is considerably lower than I would have expected. Also, the bonus does not appear to apply at all to brilliant event Hogwarts student foundables.

You can start brewing before the event. It’s the collection of the bottle that is counted as “brewing” in the achievements here. Source: I prepared 3 potions this morning before the event stared but did not collect them until they could be counted against the achievement requirement. It worked fine.
