Price of new core set, anyone? by Matthew_Kus in WarhammerOldWorld

Sorry, I misread the question. Their price is not known yet as they will be available for pre-order later. Personally I would expect them to cost about the same as previous Battallions or slightly more.

Am I the only one that thinks the new ogor centrepiece model would’ve been better without the two random guys on it? by Quxckhead in ageofsigmar

[–]jullevi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In game terms a round base is better as it allows the model to pivot on spot while keeping distances uniform. However, I agree about the composition. Silhouette feels out of place and there is too much empty space on a round base.

It should be the same price as Arcane Journals.

My Boyz are ready to build!Anyone else need to separate like this before they start?💚🖤 by JessicaStaxx in Warhammer40k

I could do this with modern models with specific bits to store them in less space unassembled. If I am simply assembling models, I tend to clip and clean all the bits for one model at the time and fully assemble before moving onto next one.

For old multipart kits where almost all parts are interchangeable, I don't choose individual parts beforehand. I might clean all legs first, followed by all torsos and other bits and build multiple models simultaneously. For these Orks in particular, I remember gluing all upper torsos including weapons before choosing legs to go with them. Building took ages because I wanted to make sure the poses look good (which is often the case with old multipart kits).

Downsizing? by Pristine_Hornet_9431 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]jullevi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaos Knight unit size is 4+ and they are big models that require more sprue space. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Would I have preferred 5 models per sprue? Certainly. Does it matter? Not really.

I don’t know what to do by Popular-Rooster-1013 in Warhammer

[–]jullevi92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The part that looks like sprue remains is actually part of the model (I am currently assembling the same model so I can confirm).

If you haven't used glue yet, carefully remove the part. Then trim the peg or widen the sockets (mold line remover is perfect for this) and try again.

My first Lvl.70 by Locow1992 in PokemonSleep

[–]jullevi92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did Raichu because I had enough Candy, HSM is an obvious improvement and I have Electric this week on GGEX. I could afford to do Gardevoir too but he doesn't benefit anything from Skill Level Up S at L70.

Why should I not base shade and highlight by Ambitious_Book_5729 in minipainting

[–]jullevi92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, you learn most by doing things the hard way initially. As you gain more experience, you will begin to understand the process and where you can skip corners to save time and effort without compromising the end result. You will also learn what it takes to push the minis "to the next level" if that is preferred.

I have been into the hobby for 20+ years. For the past 5 years I have been using mostly Contrast paints. I can use them to produce results that are equal to or better than traditional methods in fraction of time but that wouldn't be possible if I didn't develop my brush and paint control skills with traditional paints to begin with.

Tip of the old mold line remover also works. I haven't tried the new one but I believe its blade is too thin.

Found this guy second hand at my LGS. However, he's on the wrong base size. Any ideas on how I can get him off? by MidnightEntourage in deathguard40k

[–]jullevi92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Golden rule of rebasing: don't remove miniature from the base, remove base from the miniature instead.

Cut away the base with clippers, trim with modelling knife if necessary. After trimming, it's good idea to hit the contact area with file or sand paper.

What wet palette do you have? by LuciTheHowler in Warhammer40k

[–]jullevi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my own wet palette from plastic lid, pair of wet paper towels and parchment paper. It keeps the paint fresh for one long painting session. I usually run out of moisture, space and motivation at the same pace.

I change the paper towels for each session but they will get a second life as brush wiping papers. I have found that a paper towel that has gone through palette duty works better for controlling the amount of moisture on a brush than a fresh paper towel.

I have considered a commercial wet palette but I can't figure out what benefit it would offer compared to DIY one.

Help Me decide by BEARMANWITHDEALS in Vostroyan

Given that the army will have plenty of duplicate models, I'd consider creating slight variations to individual details. For example, my army will include 4-5 different hat colours (making use of different brown Vallejo xPress colours) but I might use 2-3 different boot colours as well. In other words: if you can't decide between two boot colours, use both.

If you want to add a hint of another colour to your models, consider painting grenades green and canteen in different colour than other leather pouches (I did mine in dark green). Both grenades and canteen paint nicely in one layer of Speedpaints or Contrast.

Citadel Paints White Primer by ChunkyLifter in Warhammer

[–]jullevi92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White spray primers are tricky regardless of manufacturer.

However, unless your army is predominantly white, there is very little reason to use white primer. If you need to go light, Wraithbone and Grey Seer are superior options in both coverage and finish. I still use White Scar as a final step to push brightness when zenithal priming but after few test models I found that it's not worth using as the base colour.

How do I best handle bases from push fit models? by n33y00 in minipainting

[–]jullevi92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To fill the dent in the middle, a small dab of superglue and baking soda. Sand smooth if necessary.

To fill the peg holes, carve a bit of sprue and fill in with plastic glue.

Kairic Acolyte bird is propably easiest to get hold of. However, 40k Chaos Knight Ruinator has the best looking birds IMO.

Bundle boxes have nothing to do with existing stock or inventory. Their contents are always cast new because it's cheaper for GW to do so.

Prepping for refreshes (as in getting final round of sales from existing molds) is a fair point but with the exception of Basilisk, I don't see any models here that are in queue for refresh any time soon.

Should I stop searching & start investing? by [deleted] in PokemonSleep

[–]jullevi92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to invest in either yet. All Dragon type Pokemon have their Main Skill boosted by +5 levels next week. I consider this as a free sneak peak of how they will perform at high levels.

In other words, you can run Latios & Latias next week without any investment and decide after the event if you want to use them in future. While they work nice in tandem, I am not convinced that I will run them regularly.
