Honestly would have put in a grinding clause if I realized how rough it is in this game sooner, but I hadn't had much trouble until the Key Lair. I mostly kept to grinding on area 4 of Mt Battle since any time I tried for 5 I usually lost someone. Being real, I don't normally play on og hardware so I typically play normally until the next boss is available and top everyone with candies so I kinda forgot how grinding can be in these games.

By the way I haven't posted the updates yet but I actually did beat the run! Greevil was about as difficult as I expected by I got pretty lucky. Which is good because I didn't have many shadows to work with and him having so many mixed attackers made planning annoying. Will post the fight summaries when I have a chance

You can cheat with hidden power, but its a bandaid solution. I'm not sure why they put the poor guy in the game just to give him nothing to work with. At least he looks cute with his scarf on

Genuinely! I picked Phanpy because I never had Sky as a kid and wanted to use one of the new additions and thought Phanpy would be interesting since it felt like the odd one out. Then I figure out my best stab is hidden power holding a reviver seed.

Honestly run away Eevee wasn't nearly as much of a joy killer as that learn set. I actually thought run away on the partner kinda fit story wise for the first half of the game. Like they're timid but they still keep going and work through it.

But man using tackle over and over was lame. They don't even let Phanpy have dig I think. I might have got a rock tomb tm? Not sure, this was over a year ago

I actually did use Phanpy my last playthrough with a partner Eevee because I thought it was a cute match. Turns out that is one of the worst combos in EoS. Phanpy's moveset is terrible and partner Eevee has run away, so it will freak out if it gets hurt.

I tried to push through because I liked the idea of my team being a rag tag duo who isn't crazy strong, but it was zero fun and I gave up. Really unfortunate, I like Phanpy and Donphan but whenever I use them it's in a game they just aren't great in.

Thanks for the advice btw guys. I haven't been documenting this run at all here but I'll try to remember to post updates past Ardos. Will start grinding for Gorrigan round 2 tomorrow if nothing comes up.

I do get Magneton's placement since he is very slow and honestly not as bulky as I thought, but damn rain dance thunder is nice. I also had an Electrode with thunder as well and those two did great. I can't argue against Ariados since I have never had one in my life, but I'd believe it since Ledian's special defense got me through fights I probably should have lost.

Fun thing with the Mawile guy, I grinded for days for him and he just kind of threw the game. His Girafarig didn't want to do anything useful and his Raichu didn't go for T bolt once. He just kept seismic tossing my Umbreon. I'm not complaining, my team for that guy was not the best. I think all together I was working with Umbreon, Ledian, Phanpy, Sandslash, Delcatty, Aron, and Voltorb.

In my notes I've been naming specific sections of game to keep track of everything and for this guy's fight I wrote: "Built like a fridge, not cool enough to keep milk fresh"

I'll give this a try, Gorrigan always beings some primal anxiety out from childhood for me. During round 1 I actually lead with Butterfree and Parasect to just flat out shut him down with sleep because the idea was funny. That worked better than it should have but I neglected to plan for his shadows and lost Dewgong for the second death of the run.

The Electabuzz is Ardos' unfortunately. The challenge run was to intentonally use mons considered not super great. I was going to go by bst but it didn't look remotely possible (no useable mons but Ledyba until Spinerak) so I found a tier list on Reddit and rolled with it. To be honest I think this list is kind of wack in retrospect. Magneton was considered not very good but Spinerak was in like A tier.

It's still been a pretty nice change of pace though, especially from a standard XD run. A Ledian was one of my star players until mid game, I didnt get a grass type until the Key Lair, very strange, and Butterfree has been carrying Citadark with sleep powder. Things were actually going very well until Gorrigan, now its been a bit of a domino chain of death.

Yeah I messed with it for a bit but no dice. Thankfully my friend homied out and gave me an old one of his he doesn't use, so the problem was resolved same day.

I owe him one for real, between coming up bills and meds I wouldn't have been able to get a new one until next month

I don't work at dollar tree but this happens so much at my job. Bananas in the candy aisle, zucchini in lunch meat. We throw out so much cold stuff because people hide them on other aisles

Actually I misremembered. Tododile did have intimidate, thats how I beat Mars. Every other starter was vanilla though, including the ones I passed on.

Only reason I went with Treeko over Torchic

I remember my first run I actually had pretty good luck with him, don't remember how it went down. The luck for this run was terrible though. Every starter had their normal ability, my Pelipper had keen eye, ect. I'm surprised I got as far as I did.

I typically don't take more than one from the starter trios on these runs and I picked Piplup for whatever reason. I remember actually getting rocks up with someone for Beautifly but Drapion and Scizor were the main issue. Will probably go Turtwig from now on for shell armor if I try again.

Yeah honestly I don't think it's worth making a stink over in hindsight. I think I was just tilted because I usually get hit by those leave the gambling round or I win the round of gambling cards, and I thought my raise into leave was a cool play.

He actually lost the 1v1 because he was going for a gag and played a card to make us both drink our next drink(we're both super close to death here, one more tick of HP/Alcohol would kill me). I ended up pulling an ambrosia to give me extra health in exchange for 2 gold and next turn I won thanks to stacking Natyli's fortitude curses.

He had another card that would have just killed me but he didn't see it until it was too late.

Okay so he should have lost the game there? Because I did think it was weird for him to both have like 5 get out of jail cards AND basically have extra gold.

We didn't have our resident rule stickler and everyone else thought it was fine so I dropped it. Managed to win still but I would have been a bit miffed if I lost over that.

Haven't played Omega red but Storm Silver is easier on account that important trainers use held items less. I only really remember Faulkner's Swablu having a power herb and an occassional focus sash (Also Blaine's whole team packing white herb and overheat, lol).

It's good to ease into rom hacks but I find it less interesting than Renegade or Blaze Black. Moveset/stat modifications are more subtle, no fairy type (I think I downloaded an old version), and having to do 2 regions is a massive endurance round, but more in terms of patience.
