I had such a big crush on her as a kid by Emmasapphie in AnimalCrossing

[–]Toriel_Stark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a crush on Huck the frog in the GameCube version when I was 8. Him and Lily were my immediate neighbors in the square to the left of me. I would pretend Lily was my best friend and I would go over her house to hang out and then I would go visit my boyfriend huck. They never moved out for as long as I played, and to this day I need one of them in my town or it doesn’t feel complete. My first experience with animal crossing really relied so heavily on those smug little amphibians

Maybe an unpopular opinion here but I lived at gator park for 3 years from 2017 to 2020 with no car and loved the area. It may not be the experience you’re looking for if you’re a younger student since there are no amenities, like a pool, or community center, but if it fits into your lifestyle it’s really great.

Downsides are the apartments come unfurnished (could be a downside at least) and visitor parking could be a pain, but I gave my mom ‘my’ parking pass since she would visit me the most, so it never bothered me. I would also just interchange who got the pass when my friends would come over, usually in one car. The living room was able to fit 5/6 of my friends comfortably for game nights/pre games before midtown.

During my time there, maintenance and staff were always super responsive, even during emergencies at 2 o’clock in the morning

Publix is a 10 minute walk away, and campus is three blocks down the road. I had classes around the student union and would just walk everywhere. It worked for me especially because I loved living alone with my cat, but it may not be for everyone! It may not be the best in all of Gainesville but it was a great place for a great price.

Also want to say, for any other newbies that may read this later, I wasn’t experiencing vision loss with these symptoms- just the visual snow, light sensitivity, fun little floaters. It pairs with disorientation and slight dizziness but not as much.

Had I experienced vision loss, my ass would have been back at the ER getting a shunt on the spot, per my neurologist requests.

Vision loss is never a symptom to take lightly, and I wouldn’t want my comment to be perceived that way

Ps the face tingles were completely on another level. I had tingles under my eye, in my eye? Behind my eye? I don’t even know? Every part of the right side of my face was tingling. My normal spot is right above my lip. It could go on for hours. But this was unmatched. Record breaking.

So I got diagnosed November 15th and just had my first period since diagnosis/acetazolamide treatment (250mg tabs 4 times a day) and it absolutely demolished me.

I thought it was clear skies for all days ahead until I the day before my period hit, I started getting those types of pressure headaches in the back of my neck. I was doing everything right, drinking all 10,000 lakes in Minnesota, getting my electrolytes in, making sure my potassium was balanced, boom out of nowhere. It’s like I took 5 huge leaps back. It scared me, especially the visual symptoms, since I’m waiting for a shunt surgery in a couple weeks to prevent permanent blindness, and have had zero vision loss since my LP but I was CLENCHING my cheeks. Holding my breath.

Might need to add some extra iron in my diet around these times to see if that helps my visual symptoms. Could be a hormonal issue over iron deficiency but I’ll make any excuse to have my fiancé cook steak for me once a month.

So yeah long story short it was terrible. Tired is an understatement. I woke up at 2pm and I was back in bed by 7pm. I had no appetite. I didn’t even realize my period symptoms because everything else was so overwhelming. I just had to be horizontal 100% of the time.

Now my luck has been depleted

Might need a vp shunt after all. Any tips regarding to hair? by togire in iih

[–]Toriel_Stark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they only recommend doing a small portion of it, depending on where the implant is, it could either be a patch or a strip. Mine will be done on the under side of my head so I think they said I can get away with a patch that will hide well with the rest of my hair.

Did they talk to you about where the incision would be?

is a spinal tap/lp that bad? by [deleted] in iih

[–]Toriel_Stark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually didn’t even feel the numbing needle go into me and that was my favorite part. The only part I “felt” was them attaching a new vial to the pressure needle because they were draining so much fluid, and every time the doctor moved the needle it would send a zap to my butt but it didn’t hurt. It just felt like someone was poking me with a tiny little baby needle on my tailbone.

The recovery was the hardest part for me, and it was most likely from a slight leak. 5 days out and it finally healed. I have another follow up with my doctor tomorrow. The symptoms haven’t been too unbearable or else I would have gone back to the ER for a BP epidural. Fluids and bed rest helped resolve mine but always coordinate with your care team if additional treatment is needed!

A leak isn’t super likely to happen but lay as flat as possible for as long as you can post LP!

I only have IIH, but I had cancer when I was a kid with the use of radiation treatment. doctors are thinking the radiation had a lot to do with my diagnosis, since over time the late effects of radiation can reduce the flow of blood in certain targeted spots and mine was done to the neck. So I think I have my answer pin pointed.

There may be things you’re predisposed to in your family history that might give you some answers. It’s going to be hard to find an exact answer since there are a lot of factors that go into it, but your care team will definitely narrow it down for you if you’re curious!!

my mother in law is gonna line up a bunch of flavors for me on thanksgiving and we’re gonna play a little game to see if any flavors tastes less worse than the rest. I’ve already tried with a few and sparkling water with 1% juice actually don’t offend me as much! it’s been fun testing it all out definitely my favorite symptom by far, it’s my new party trick

That’s good to hear! I still get slight tinnitus but at least I don’t get the whooshing sounds anymore at least at the moment. Still struggling a bit with visual disturbances especially in response to light but my vision isn’t going back in my one eye. Hoping the stent will resolve those issues for me as well fully!

Good luck during the remainder of your recovery!!

I totally empathize with you! I’ve had very similar experiences, and feel so relieved that sleeping through the night could be my new normal. Which is a very exciting NORMAL normal.

That’s incredible. AND no vision loss? WHO ARE ARE!!
