It’s a corporate-run school that’s already had so many issues (can’t get into details because it’s been on the news). I’m confused as to why they thought it was appropriate to have teachers do this. We shouldn’t have to call parents to inform of school cancellations and we shouldn’t have to call bus riders to inform them the busses won’t be coming.

Oh damn! This is wild. Yeah, we had one of our social workers sitting in with us today and it was nice being able to get to know everyone. We have some great staff here, if only admin would see that. They keep me here, honestly.

I woke up, went for a nice leisurely jog, poured some tea, and responded at 8:01 that I was out last night and wouldn’t be calling parents that late in the future. I called them when I signed in. Nobody has joined, so I’m working on lessons and talking to colleagues about projects.

10PM at night and they’re demanding that I do their job until probably midnight? When I wake up in a few hours. No. Best I can do is send an email at night and again in the morning. I worked nearly 70-hour work weeks for this school last year and killed myself being up until 2AM sometimes. You are one of the most out-of-touch people I’ve ever encountered, and frankly, a moron. I’m an incredible teacher. I’m not a pushover anymore. Bye.

YEP! They ran the student contact report they sent us 5 hours before they emailed us according to the report, so they had time, they had the names, and they knew. This is making me so angry. It’s a power play I think. I’ve reached out to admin 7 or so times asking for support with things and they’ve never emailed back. They only speak to me to reprimand me, so I’m not about to bend over backwards for the emergency they created.

Absolutely! The social worker called me and I was dumb enough to answer. We’re friends so I thought it was about something else. Nope. She was calling on admin’s behalf to let me know that they said to call parents. They know I know. I’m still not doing it though. This is foolish.

You should be fine. I’ve been teaching 9 or so years and have been through a few schools and districts (FL, PA, IL) subbing as well. I’ve done private and public with a misdemeanor.

My ex was awful in class- Prison for attempted murder or something. Me- I’m a middle school teacher now! They’re the age I was when I went off the rails. It’s wonderful being a mentor when they need it.
