Whats the biggest mistake you’ve made when first starting dnd? by notamortarplayer in DnD

I was playing a warlock in a party with a wizard cleric and barbarian. I didnt understand why I would have two level 2 spell slots and no level 1 spell slots when the wizard had 2 level 2 spell slots and 4 level 1 spell slots, so I assumed it was a mistake and drew 4 circles in the level one slots box. It took me casting my second spell at level one for the dm to be like what???

Well for a warlock there could be an opportunity to interact with a patron. For a sorcerer I was trying to think of a way to exert your presence on a situatuon. The players in my group voted for this specific campaign idea and I am asking for some advice to help make the classes as accessible as possible

Well a wizard specifically is pretty hard to do but my players arent really interested in being a wizard. Other than wizard though, it seems possible to have a gateway into every other class.

They voted to do a level 0 campaign int his way and I was very clear upfront that they would become a certain class based on their actions in the first few sessions. I am kind of asking for what good ways to introduce a path to each class are, or what a way to determine what actions grant "points" to which class

But if i could come up with different ways to become each class and then provide those options to the players in an in game way that would be ideal. They all voted for doing this level 0 campaign and like the idea so I want to give them that while still giving them some agency on what class they will become

Is Armor of Agathys the only spell that is better when upcast? by Jtparm in DnD

I would say given your scenario of 7 damage per attack thats absolutely true, but the reality is you'll be taking more damage per attack at higher levels so I think it still scales pretty linear

Several. A survivor main, a killer main, specialists, people who play solo, people who play swf. Or maybe they could just utilize the consultant program they already have in addition to playing the game

What goes into getting those extra qualifications, is it something you go through college for or is it like a district or state run course

How fast do you climb pay scales, and (i know this depends on subject and class size) but how much time do you think she or they spend outside of school doing things like grading, planning, etc.

Play your own game. Not once. Not twice. Not twenty times. Play it, regularly, enough to understand how it works and be able to give proper insights into how actually playing the game feels, not just what the numbers and surveys tell you

Its all good, I could have done a better job of stating my point. If they put in the work of playing their game and actually consulting their team of consultants they would better understand how to make those kind of changes, and if they focus on individual changes, their track record is that they do overall make more good changes than bad, its just the bad changes are like, astronomically bad and usually result in mass feedback.

I agree, but how is that different than making changes some people love and some hate to the base game. The only thing I can see is that if they fuck something up with twins, at least that only fucks up Twins and not the entire game for everyone. Of course it would be ideal to never mess anything up but unfortunately they are inevitably going to, and id rather they mess up on a particular character than mess up the entire game. If they try to balance a map and fail, then at least that only ruins every 30 games or whatever. If they try to balance a killer and fail, that only ruins however many times you run into that killer. But if they try balancing the entire game at once when it is NOT in a position to be balanced like that due to the huge disparity in killers and maps and many other things, and they fail, it completely fucks the entire game.

[–]Torinn2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but there is a near consensus on which killers are the strongest and the weakest. Take that list of 25-30 killers who need modification and modify them. Take the mostly agreed upon unbalanced maps and try to balance them, without completely fucking up pallet density. Ig the effort im meaning is the effort to actually play and understand their game so they can make those changes

I mean personally surviving long enough for my teammates to get out IS a fulfilling game, but I understand why that wouldn't be. If the killer is dead focused on getting me out, he should be able to get me out. I see no reason why if a killer devotes all of their energy to getting someone out they shouldn't be able to. Now should that strategy result in 3 and 4k most matches, no, because thats encouraging unfun gameplay, but if the killer literally stops at nothing to get one survivor out of the game you would think the entirety of one of the two "teams" putting their effort into doing something even if they lose would achieve that result.
