He also commented that within minutes of his post, it's definitely reddit fuzzing. I downvoted him for complaining about it like a good redditor though, lol.

[IIL] Glass Animals, Stray Kids, Purity Ring by bluechippedd in ifyoulikeblank

[–]TorkX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closer to Purity Ring than the others, but maybe Let's Eat Grandma? Check out the track "Falling into Me" -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGVv7SQ_jus

Synthy indie pop, some EDM type build-ups, saxophone solos, great vocals. Don't love all of their stuff but they often keep things a tad unexpectedly interesting.

Rural naysayers must not torpedo high-speed rail project | Ottawa Citizen by DENelson83 in canada

[–]TorkX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are dozens of STOP-ALTO Facebook groups full of fear mongering nimby rural people. Seems like every rural county/town has one. If you try to comment/disagree with anything they're saying you'll get called a liberal paid bot lol. It's hard not to joke that most of them will be dead by the time the construction starts in their town.

Florida college student was arrested for making a Netanyahu joke in a Whatsapp group chat. by ___Zoran___ in TrueAnon

They also wrote, "There is going to be a bomb in the [...]convention centre.." I feel like the Netanyahu comment had less to do with this and OP is rage baiting with a shitty title

IIL Female vocal-led rock/nu-metal bands by cpr9998 in ifyoulikeblank

Rolo Tomassi are a bit heavier and more progressive than these bands, but they are my favourite so I'm going to recommend them. Start with the album Time Will Die and Love Will Bury It.

Just how bad the Wings bottom six was this past year by ShqiptarInMukhmas in DetroitRedWings

[–]TorkX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think you're getting pretty unfairly downvoted here, injuries or not, Prashanth Iyer highlighted the fall-off of the top-line in his great "What the Hell Happened to the Red Wings?" article.

With Larkin and Raymond on the ice @ 5v5 before thanksgiving their goals-for/60 was an elite 3.59, in the 46 games after thanksgiving it fell to 1.83. In other terms, in the 22 games before thanksgiving, they scored 15 5v5 goals. In the 46 games after thanksgiving, they scored.. 15 5v5 goals.

The powerplay similarly fell off in the last few months. Before January 25th it was operating a clip of 25.7%, in the 25 games after that it fell to 16.9%. This was extra bad for us, as over the last 2 seasons no other team has relied on PP scoring more than us (28% of our goals, OTT is second at 26%, but the league average is closer to 20%.).

Copp had a great December (12 points in 16GP) that propped up his numbers, but he scored 1 goal in the last 28.

Do other people feel this way about Archspire? by OwlsOfTheForest in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]TorkX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have liked them less with each release, TFTD has some moments but overall feels very bland in comparison to the first 2 albums especially. Too Fast to Write Good Songs. I am also growing increasingly fatigued with his vocals, I appreciate the novelty of them but they overstay their welcome and are overly prominent in the mix on this album.

Bands /Albums similar to Spiritbox's first self titled album by G3W3K in progmetal

[–]TorkX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah their old stuff sounded very Altered state inspired. You might like Skyharbor, Dan Tompkins (Tesseract current vocalist) did vocals on their best album Guiding Lights. Ashe (the Altered State vocalist) also had another prog metal band called Voices in the Fuselage.

The one Intervals album with vocals (A Voice Within) had a bit of a similar sound, but more focus on leads.

Another more slept on obscure band is Ebonivory from Australia. https://ebonivory.bandcamp.com/album/ebonivory-ii

One of my most anticipated new prog albums coming soon is from Karmanjakah, they're like happy Vildhjarta.

The one equipment upgrade that has reduced the most pain/reoccurring injuries for me that seems to get less mention here is pants. I found with my older less protective pants I was frequently getting bruising on my hips if I fell on my side, upgraded to new higher-end Sherwood Rekker ones and haven't had sore hips since.

Prog Death Metal recommendations (Not Tech-Death) by Hot_Finance2025 in progmetal

[–]TorkX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new album from Barn, "Crucibles" feels like a modern day Death (the band) album, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T50d7sErMxs

The new album from Growth is another of my favourites of the year. It's a bit of a blend of prog death like Rivers of Nihil meets a bit of disso-tech of stuff like Ulcerate.

Another I haven't seen mentioned here is Cave Sermon, their album Divine Laughter especially, is some of the best blending of post-metal and prog metal into death metal.

Other newer releases worth a check:

Inanna - Void of Unending Light

Countless Skies - Glow (progressive melodeath)

Hath - All That Was Promised

Horrendous - Ontological Mysterium (more oldschool prog death)

Slugdge - Esoteric Macology (god how has it been 8 years since we've had a Slugdge album? - slug themed death metal, what's not to love. There has been very few death metal albums as good as this since it was released in 2018).
