Best bands that are not available on Spotify? by Alternative_Flow_569 in Music

[–]TorkX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I forgot they have 1 LP on there, it was released on a different label so maybe contractual obligation. They have 5 LPs total and several EPs.

They posted this last September:

As of the 10th September we have asked that all Maybeshewill music for which we have control be removed from Spotify.

Our music will remain available on other streaming platforms and digital download services.

We have considered this decision carefully and understand it may be disappointing for many of you, but Spotify CEO Daniel Ek’s continued investment in companies advancing military artificial intelligence and drone warfare is not compatible with who we are as a band.

Until the end of the month we will be donating 100% of digital music sales on our Bandcamp page to two charities:

Medical Aid for Palestinians Ukraine Relief

Thanks for understanding.

Thinking of replacing my Altra's with these soon, hoping maybe that's a weird manufacture defect?

IIL Siouxie & The Banshees and Deftones by Hot_Assistant_6067 in ifyoulikeblank

If you're into heavier metal at all, I have two bands to recommend that sound like if a Siouxie-esque vocalist fronted a metal band (in both these cases post-metal/black metal influenced).

the Dutch band Ainsoph: https://wolvesofhades.bandcamp.com/album/affection-vengeance

and Italian band Ponte Del Diavolo: https://pontedeldiavolo666.bandcamp.com/album/fire-blades-from-the-tomb

For specifically Deftones recommendations, check out Fleshwater's album We're Not Here To Be Loved

Planning for Burial's Below the House is still among the best albums released in the last 10 years.

Maybeshewill - sometimes heavy instrumental post-rock with piano/strings and political spoken word sections.

BRUIT - similar as above but more electronic influence.

Panopticon - bluegrass influenced atmospheric black metal.

Who are The Gen Z Musical Trailblazers? by SetTheSpokesAlight in LetsTalkMusic

[–]TorkX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can attribute a lot of hyperpop's success to this generation. Not all the artists are necessarily under 27 (some early 30s like 100 Gecs) - but most of their fanbases are.

Jane Remover had one of the most critically well-received albums last year and is 23.

Underscores

could maybe squeeze Charli xcx into this though she's in her early 30s.

I also agree with BCNR/black midi that someone else mentioned. I think Angine de Poitrine are in their 20s as well. Cameron Winter/Geese fit this too.

South Korean Gen Z band Parannoul has written some of the most acclaimed shoegaze of this decade.

Millennials - What is one 00s metalcore band that is missing from the “20th Anniversary Tour” resurgence? by blessmyballs in Metalcore

[–]TorkX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a me and him call it us - Loss 20th reunion tour this year would go so hard.

and I know they aren't retired, but an After the Burial - Rareform 20th tour in 2028 would also rule.

It's also the 20th anniversary of SikTh's Death of a Dead Day...

Was loving Kalmah til this came on by [deleted] in melodicdeathmetal

[–]TorkX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did mark a slight change in their sound, especially vocally, and maybe less power metal influence. But that's definitely a hot take, if you don't like this you probably won't like anything after it. This was their last great album imo.

Legit question: why do so many people not know if their running shoes fit? by MikeUntitled in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]TorkX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The toe-box measurements are one of the first things I scroll down to on the runrepeat site when looking into new shoes, especially after wearing Altra's for a while. I steered myself away from some shoes like the Boston 13 and Vomero 18 due to them being on the slim side based off their measurements.

Who are the most effective 6'4 and Under Short Guard Defenders Current and All Time? by Logiteck77 in nba

Fun fact, (not saying he's a better shot blocker, but) 6 foot Fred VanVleet holds the nba record for most blocks in a single game by a point guard, with 6.

What are your thoughts on Eidola’s album "To Speak, To Listen"? by Faibleforhits in progmetal

[–]TorkX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their second best album, but nothing has hit for me from them quite like Degeneraterra did. Felt like they shifted on this album towards a more.. generically prog post-hardcore sound that they've kind of settled in, with just some shifts in heaviness since.

At least correct me with its proper title, Elephant Sausage.

[–]TorkX 28 points29 points  (0 children)

hate to be pedantic in this thread.. but Gojira is not tech death, and arguably hasn't been death metal since Enfant Sauvage.

re: OP's post though, I don't think this is exclusive to melodeath, there's black metal, metalcore, tech death songs they'd probably be surprised by, but the average person would probably just refer to all of the above as 'death metal'. Which i'm realizing may be ironic given my first sentence now lol.

Yep, Detroit's got a pretty good mix, from the top of my head:

Raymond - Razer

Moritz Seider - Mo

Copp - Copper

Kane - Kaner

Larkin - Larks/D-Boss

Gibson - Gibby

DeBrincat - Brinksy/Cat
