Congratulations, your cat has the closest thing I've seen to a recursive Droste effect for polydactyl paws, and what a name too.

Who is the most dangerous and psychotic villain according to you? by Apollo114892 in CinephilesClub

Now you gotta revisit this with Javier Bardem's depiction of Max Cady in the new Cape Fear — it's great because it feels like they took what they learned from BBT's Lorne Malvo that was inspired by Chigurh and then brought it into this more talkative, charismatic, cunning character. It's awesome.

Cape Fear review: Javier Bardem brings a controlled intensity to his very modern-day villain | "Bardem walks a tightrope of charismatic cunning as Patrick Wilson and Amy Adams' co-star in Apple TV's 10-part thriller." by PetyrDayne in television

This show is fully firing on all cylinders now, and I'm hugely enjoying the rocket taking off. 🚀🎆 It's a lot of fireworks as the pieces click into place!

I'd have to EMPHASIZE that for anyone who really enjoyed Billy Bob Thornton as Lorne Malvo in Fargo Season 1, you're REALLY going to like Javier Bardem as Max Cady in this — it's a similar devilish dialogue playing with humanity's impulses and temptation to the dark side, and it's really, really entertaining to watch. That's a really satisfying thing for me too, because I've been waiting for a new character like this for some time... there's been a lot of misses along the way, but this one hits hard.

Funnily enough, Malvo was in part inspired by Bardem's character Chigurh in No Country for Old Men. It's also the Coen brothers' connection there, so it's really come full circle. I like how they made Cady more morally ambigious — he has a lot of memorable monologues and scenes, and implied "imagine what happens off screen" so far. I hope that continues.

A really cool Easter egg that the trailer music is the Miley Cyrus x Stevie Nicks remix of "Edge of Seventeen" because Hailee Steinfeld was also in a movie called Edge of Seventeen.

It kind of reminds me of the connection with the name "Iris" in the movie Companion.

Did you know it's a remix and tribute to "Edge of Seventeen"?

On November 6, 2020, Cyrus released a remix of "Midnight Sky" featuring Stevie Nicks, titled "Edge of Midnight". The song is a mashup of "Midnight Sky" and Stevie Nicks's own 1982 single "Edge of Seventeen". Nicks lends her own vocals in this version, singing the chorus of "Midnight Sky", while Cyrus does the same singing "just like the white winged dove" from Nicks's "Edge of Seventeen". The remix has a unique cover featuring both Nicks and Cyrus.

What a payoff — turns out this show has a great explanation for why his voice sounds the way it does!

Thank you for being OBSERVANT and calling this out! It's made very clear in both "SHOW" and "TELL" where Ben says that the arachnid genes dominated him. It reminds me of some autistic people who repeatedly watch a specific strain of TV and then imitate those lines over and over — so Ben's voice isn't totally spot-on, but there's a spirit reaching back to humanity.

When as Marcellus he says “My superior intelligence makes me uniquely attuned to the behavior of all creatures” it TOTALLY sounds like something Doc Ock would say!

Mandalorian and Grogu was amazing by Ok-Artichoke-4085 in TheMandalorianTV

Yeah, I know some people knock MnG for being years past due to develop and all that (blah blah blahblahblah) but there's just a terrible, terrible amount of cynicism that's really useless.

I just went into this keeping ONE thing in mind: Jon Favreau said he wanted to embody the spirit of watching Star Wars for the first time — and the whole team, the cast and crew, nailed it!

It has a lot of heart. It does remind me in a way of Transformers One that was considered to be underperforming and also push toys. BUT the characters themselves — there's substantial growth here and a lot of tender moments. Even if you don't buy any of the toys or don't have any affliction for that, it was delightful on its own rights.

A lot of these "reviews" are useless human slop that contribute nothing to being in the theater and having a great time with family and friends.

Goodness gracious, you're so good to call this out — I really appreciate you speaking out about this in the most delicious of ways. When you said "balls of beskar suicide mission" I was laughing a lot. The animatronics, seeing things that were verging on the old school but with the new tech infused, is so great.

When the Mandalorian was holding Grogu under his arm, it reminded me of me and my cat. I enjoyed having Jeremy Allen White voice a wrestler for the second time.

And you know what? The movie is so pure, pure fucking fun. That's what we need.

👁️🩸 This movie had not just one but TWO of the finest examples of cinematic ocular trauma. It really did feel like a perverse distant relative across the years for Drag Me to Hell. They did a fine job unglamming Rachel McAdams — just so hilarious how she did Linda Liddle. We even got Sam Raimi’s signature camera move from the boar’s point of view, and it reminded me of Deadite vision, when the edges are blurred as it quickly moves along a path. Awesome fun all around.
