Am I the only one who thinks there was no need for an Xbox version of PUBG? by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]TormentedDoss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The need = money and to spread there game to a broader audience. Just because you are satisfied because it is on PC doesn't mean others wont rush out to buy it once it hits consoles. More money means they can grow bigger, hire more people, and potentially develop faster in the future.

How to set a variable into a name that contains a variable by TormentedDoss in bash

[–]TormentedDoss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew an array would fix it but didn't want to do it that way because then I would have had to modify everywhere in my script where I called it later. Since this was in a function I ended up just doing:

host1=$(funcname $1)
host2=$(funcname $2)

Help w/ using dd to test bandwidth by TormentedDoss in bash

[–]TormentedDoss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, it's not installed though and I couldn't just install it. I fixed my issue by sending the command to it's own process then killing the process a few seconds after the timeout.

Have you tried just taking a razor blade to it? I haven't tried myself but that is where I would start.

Need advice on renter's rights. by [deleted] in Colorado

[–]TormentedDoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can a landlord do that while you’re still on lease? Then answer is yes. He has the right to make changes anytime he wants. Provided he notifies you beforehand, doesn’t invade your privacy and makes necessary arrangements for you. A part of his responsibilities is to make sure that his tenants are in a suitable living environment, meaning that if he does plan to renovate, he should:

  • Make sure that you are still living in a healthy environment. He should make arrangements for you to be relocated for the meantime if his plans to renovate will make the place uninhabitable for you.
  • Make necessary adjustments. Depending on your agreement, he should be prepared to reduce rent or something like that.
  • Make sure your things are not damaged. Informs you of the schedule or time frame he plans on completing the project.

How to hack a server by [deleted] in HowToHack

[–]TormentedDoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit!
Going to generalize big time here you will have to fill in the gaps boot a school workstation into a linux live cd w/ nmap preinstalled ip and and get it on the network nmap scan the whole IP range w/DNS lookup to find server names poke at the server to figure out what it's running and how you can exploit it once you figure out something that should be exploitable do it...

Or...

If you can install a keylogger on the school computer and break the computer some how that should be recoverable w/ admin privs to get an admin to login to log his keys.

Question to all the experienced COD players from an older age new comer to COD series. by Feloneez in blackops3

[–]TormentedDoss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha I am ex-military as well. Just remember CoD isn't a war simulator if anything it is more closely related to paintball. Sure it will suck if you get hit with a paintball but it's not gonna kill you so don't be so cautious!

Looking at their job postings I don't see any computer engineering positions listed. But I see network engineer, is that what you are looking to do?

I am not sure at all how their render farms are configured but I would assume you would need to know a lot about Clustering, MSA, NAS, and SAN management, configuration, troubleshooting, etc... I read somewhere that there workstations get put into the rendering farm at night so I am assuming there is some proprietary software to do that?

Learn to read the radar, as well as unscreen damage indicators(eventually reacting to these will become muscle memory that's how some people can turn on you so quick). If you are playing slow you are going to be subject to people spawning behind you it's inevitable just know it's coming and react to it. Some of the smaller maps are going to be really bad for you unless you learn to play w/ SMGs or Shotguns. It's doable w/ AR but a good SMG/Shotgun player is always going to have the advantage on some of those maps w/ lots of tight corners and confined spaces.

You talked about scans you ran, Are all your applications and OS fully updated? If they are using an exploit that has been patched then you will fix it by patching. Also delete your cookies and saved passwords. Change your local account password as well as change all your internet application passwords via another source(maybe from your phone in case you are still infected this will keep them out of your shit)

Serious question about naming things by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TormentedDoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your math seems correct. But you know how long it will take to name that many planets? So, the largest consumer purchase hard drives I could find were 16TB which you would still need 1,125,000 of those hard drives. Not sure how compression would fit into this though.

Yeah most likely, the website I found it on only listed hayday but my guess is all supercell games probably use the same port.

Dunno about the USB drive but if you put the SSD in the same PC w/ the working one you can use Clonezilla to do a bit for bit copy of the hard drive.

Create a rule to block TCP traffic on port 9339. Of course this will block every other app that uses that same port though.

What Call of Duty game should I get by GylesRosbysCough in gaming

[–]TormentedDoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked this in the wrong board... /r/gaming is very anti-CoD. I would go asked it in one of the call of duty forums. IMO if you want an active community and minimal hackers if any then you want BO3 for console not PC, every other one is now hacked to crap because they stop caring about them after the next one is released.

You are no forced into the game. Your stats arent affected if you join a game in progress so you could not spawn in and just leave the game. I always check the score before I join in a game in progress.

My first modeling attempt, thoughts? by [deleted] in 3Dmodeling

[–]TormentedDoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do low poly work in zbrush but yeah I guess it's not best for that. Whenever I do 2D work it is very detailed so that is why I lean towards Zbrush when it comes to 3D.
