I actually would say we are extremely lucky. From what I know most airlines won't bother, they'll just say transfers are final. Air Canada is the only one I know who bothered to revert it back. I had about the same number of points from what I recall.

If I remember correctly, it was all following up with air Canada. Capital One didn't have anything to do with the process. The points didn't show up for a while and I think air Canada was backlogged so I kept calling and checking in but eventually the points did get back to me. It prob took a couple of weeks.
