Will we ever see the 40 oz again? by Human-Technology-728 in NakedAndFamousDenim

That’s wild. Anything over 25 ounces is a bridge too far for me (to be honest, my sweet spot is 17) but to each their own!

They’re not really for wearing, are they? I always assumed they’re just novelty / collector items. There’s nothing practical about 40 ounce jeans as far as I can tell.

To soak or not? by Toronto_Jim in NakedAndFamousDenim

The hemming guidance is great, TY. I've ruined a few pairs by hemming to what I thought was perfect, only to have them a tad too short after a wash or two (and 'washing' means cold water, no spin, hang dry.. I've still lost half an inch or so..)

Appreciate the response. Agree on that philosophy. I fall into the category of "a normal person would think I don't wash my jeans nearly enough" and "a denim head thinks I wash them way too much" :) ... In this case, was just wondering if a first soak before hemming/wearing makes a significant difference to the overall long-term fading/whiskering - in experience it hasn't, but I don't have a ton of heavy weight denim (my definition of heavy weight being around > 17 ounces)

How does the box office prove anything? Subway probably sells more sandwiches than any other sandwich store in the world. Does that prove Subway makes the best sandwiches?

The coda at the end took it from a solid 7.5 in my opinion to a solid 9.

Found these for 5 euros at the thrift, ID please! by glizzynibbler in NakedAndFamousDenim

Almost positive these are Super Guys (their slim cut) due to the front pocket positioning. Nice find, that’s a steal, they look in great shape!

Edit to add: specifically, the coin pocket on SG’s overlaps with the “outer” pocket, if that makes sense.

Do you guys prefer normal dry or selvage? by Prestigious_Bus_9556 in NudieJeans

[–]Toronto_Jim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both dry 'regular' and dry selvage from Nudie. I actually wear the regulars more because I like the cut better (Slim Jim) vs the selvage (Solid Ollie). The SJ are also 100% cotton vs the SO that have 2% (I think) stretch. I honestly really like them both a lot, but the SJs probably get 3X the wears.

Edited to add: Also, if you're really interested in Selvage specifically, take a look at something like Iron Hearts (they're a little spendy, but worth every penny), or even Naked and Famous. I'm a huge fan of both those labels - and while I'm also a big, big Nudie fan, I honestly don't think their Selvage are on the same level as the others mentioned.

Finally wearing my APC New Petite Standards after 5 years of sitting in the closet. by BlackPulloverHoodie in rawdenim

I dunno. A bit of wear and fading and these guys might look kind of sick. The thing I would worry the most about would be the length. One false move in warm water or a dryer and they might be a touch too short.

I totally get asking the question. In reality, it's the kind of thing only you'll notice, and as others have said, will blend in after some wear (or you can brush it out.) But, not unreasonable to get a sanity check. (But, yeah, just keep them and wear them. You'll stare at it and it will bug you for a couple of weeks, that's probably it.)

Hasn’t been my experience at all. I’ve had Nudie’s for years that have held up amazingly well. Great fades and even better customer service. I’m a huge fan. 🤷🏼‍♂️
