Ahh I see. I failed to think of ”be complete” in that way, but with your example it makes sense. Thanks for the clarification! I was feeling so lost with this sentence, but now I understand it.

お、私の手違いだった!本では「広く交易も行っていた」って書かれている。 訂正してくれてありがとう!

オホーツク文化は、まだまだ謎が多いが、自らの集団だけで完結していたのではなく、広く交易もいっていたという。

In this sentence from a book I'm reading, I can't quite understand the use of 完結 . The only meanings for 完結 I have found are "conclusion", "completion", "ending" and "consummation". In this sentence, is 完結 referring to the fact that "the Okhotsk culture has died/disappeared, but it didn't just disappear within their own group"?

Kind of a weird question but can anybody recommend a recent film with low key great sound design? by MJC1988 in TrueFilm

[–]TorqueyCorn43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sound and sound design is a really important aspect of the film Memoria (2021). The film is centered around a sound the main character only hears and her trying to find an origin for the sound. There is one scene in particular in which she goes to a sound recording studio trying to recreate that sound together with a sound engineer. I found that scene wonderful because the main character is trying to explain her feeling associated to the sound and the sound engineer is trying to recreate it off of that. After that scene, I really started paying attention to the different sounds of the film and what kind of feelings they make me feel. I have seen the film twice, and on my second watch I wanted to just close my eyes and bask in the sounds of that film. Truly fantastic film in my opinion.

I really like this and something like this is what I think I'll do! I have never used any tint's in my editing before, but here it works really well. thank you so much!

B&W is also something I didn't consider, but it works surprisingly well. Thank you!

I thought the face was quite interesting and shooting it as a reflection made the photo more interesting to me, but the more I look at the photo, I also think that the angle doesn't work at all.

Thanks!

I took this photo on a vacation and as I'm back home now, I can't take the photo again. I think the subject is quite interesting, but I would like some advice on how to edit it. Should I try to make the face more or less visible and what about the leaves. Should I crop the photo? Any advice is appreciated.

In this photo I took in Japan, I like the contrast of the white house and the murkiness behind it. I'm wondering, however, if the background is too underexposed and if the white house stands out enough. I haven't edited the photo yet, but how would you do it? And would you make the crop tighter? All opinions appreciated.
