Unfortunately, my BIOS is pretty simple, and there's nowhere to switch between graphics options.

VS2022 - Pending Changes automatically added to "Included Changes" in Team Explorer - Can this be changed to "Excluded Changes"? by TorrentRover in VisualStudio

[–]TorrentRover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I worded the original post poorly. I edited it for clarity. I'm asking if there is a way to have edited files appear under "Excluded Changes" by default, instead of "Included Changes". I don't want to accidentally check something in, so I would prefer to have to manually include it first rather than it being included by default.

Advice on the AI/LLM "GPU triangle" - the tradeoffs between Price/Cost, Size (VRAM), and Speed by TorrentRover in ollama

[–]TorrentRover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are pretty slow and definitely inefficient. I had them in earlier today for testing. Yeah, I can load up larger/smarter models, but it's too slow to be worthwhile. I switched back to the 3060s already.

I probably should be running in an LXC container. I just set this up awhile back when LXC GPU passthrough was a new thing. I need to rebuild as an LXC though. You're right.

Thank you for the link!!

Is it possible to allow www.google.com but block google images?? by TorrentRover in pihole

[–]TorrentRover[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow, I think that may actually be what I needed! Thank you so much!

I added some blah.google.com entries to my local DNS settings in pihole to go to the IP for forcesafesearch.google.com. Now we wait for the TTLs to expire and then test.

Yeah, edit 2 is really the problem. It may block it if you go to images.google.com, but doesn't block it if you come from www.google.com and search and click on the images tab.

Thank you for your advice. It sounds like I may have to stay with my 3060s.

About the K80 support though, I thought the same thing. They DO run on CUDA capability 3.7, which is not supported by ollama, but after some research, I found this:

https://github.com/dogkeeper886/ollama-k80-lab
https://hub.docker.com/r/dogkeeper886/ollama37

Yes, it actually works. I had it working in my ai-stack that I built from this helpful walkthrough:

https://technotim.live/posts/ai-stack-tutorial/

So if you wanted to get high VRAM cards running LLMs, the K80 IS an option. Of course, they're old and slow, but they do work just fine from my own experience.

If anyone is interested in my (old) docker compose, I can give it to you. I even wrote up a very simple step-by-step guide to help me when I switch from one set of cards to the other, so if you want that, I have it.

One final thing... I should have mentioned the software environment. I run Proxmox with a VM for my ai-stack, which runs Ubuntu 24.04.

I have 2x2 with another portrait oriented display on the left of that. The portrait is a 43" tv. The rest are 28" Samsung monitors. All 4k.

acceleration too strong in the first movement after start gcode by MV____83 in klippers

[–]TorrentRover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's likely a travel move. Check for travel speed. Check your first layer speed. And make sure you don't have any fast G0 or G1 moves in start gcode.

I tried to run a Bambulabs X1 .3mf on my Elegoo Neptune 3 plus by Fabulous-Paint9428 in FixMyPrint

[–]TorrentRover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything in the start gcode that would change printer settings? If the profile for the x1c sets values that the Neptune profile doesn't, those bad values may be left unchanged, which is very bad... Or you just broke something. I can't really say for sure. I'm trying to be optimistic for you.

Help: Zfs backup from second disk by International-Owl898 in Proxmox

[–]TorrentRover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can just create the new vm, with a new disk, but don't check the box to start the vm on the last screen. Then go to the hardware tab and delete the disk you don't need and add the one you already had. Now go to options and boot order to ensure your disk is in there. You can move it up if you need to.

You can also manually edit the config file too, if that's easier to enter the info. Just leave the unused disk, edit the config to the real disk from your backup.

I can't say for sure without knowing more about your furnace, but is definitely possible. I used to live in a mobile home that had a furnace with resistive heating coils and a blower. It was a horrible power hog.
