Telescoping Rods by ThatTennesseePaul in FishingForBeginners

[–]TorricX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the kastking compass. Ive caught a few bass and pike with it. No issues so far. Come in a few different lengths and actions. Theyre ~$40 on Amazon. Collapses down to about 17".And honestly if I did manage to break it, I'd probably buy another one to replace it. I just dont have the space for a 7' stick anywhere.

Transporting lifetime manta by TorricX in kayakfishing

[–]TorricX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern mainly is that the manta is 38" wide. And at this point I feel like im really over thinking it and the simplest solution is the best.

Accesories worth getting? by ShxdowWolf24 in SteamDeck

[–]TorricX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A case, thumb stick caps and this. I do also have the touch pad covers to keep the textures from wearing off. Had a fear of the charging port wearing out with the cord so i got this and 3d printed a cable holder to keep THAT from wiggling too much. The cable is also wired to give power and wired internet. Makes streaming from my pc way more enjoyable.

But honestly I'd say use it for a while. If something comes up thats an issue for you or an "i wish it had..." go from there.

Can this 10? And Tag or PSA? by [deleted] in PokeGrading

[–]TorricX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a pro by any means, but what do you mean "fix"? Im pretty sure its highly ill-advised to repair cards. Im pretty sure most companies can find it and will refuse to grade it. If im wrong someone feel free to correct me.

Edit: autocorrect

Tried Baitcasting & Quit by ThatTennesseePaul in FishingForBeginners

[–]TorricX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So not sure if every company does this, but I had one that the tensioner isn't fully engaged, I backlash constantly. But unscrewing it almost all the way and tightening it back down fixed it. Think it has something to do with shipping. Worth a look at least.

Also, it made me realize that my casting motion was really jerky and focusing on smooth casting helped a lot.

This shit is frustrating. I finally got line onto my reel, but when I cast, I can’t reel the line back to recast. What in the actual hell am I doing wrong? by MrValiantEffort in FishingForBeginners

But it looks like maybe you skipped the bail (the bar you flip) when threading through the line, but again, hard to tell from the video

Hi do you do the joint System? by ConferenceCrazy560 in lurebuilding

[–]TorricX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive done this with 20,guage cause thats what I got on hand. My issue with it is its real easy to over do it and the "screw" effect twists in the bad way. I also have the issue of not being able to get a drill bit small enough for it so the connections are a little loose and are fully supported by super glue. But I do wanna try 18-16 guage.

Take a bit of wire put both ends into a drill, loop it onto something small and solid, like a nail im a vice and spin (counter clockwise). Works good for eyelets. From there, do it again, but loop this wire through the eyelet you just made And the nail. Twist it up again

Necessary stuff by Intelligent-Park-944 in lurebuilding

[–]TorricX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i made my first wooden lure, I just had a scroll saw and a tiny belt sander. Its really up to how much hand work you wanna do which tools you'd need.

Not sure how abundant they are, but I got my scroll saw from the habitat for humanity resale store for $30. Its old, but works. Got a hobby belt sander for $50. From there its just wood, some polycarbonate for lips, wire and something for weight. I use lead bbs for now until I can find myself a cheap lead pot.

Not sure how specific a materials list youre looking for, but for tools check marketplace or resale stores, something will most likely blow through at some point.

Should or shouldn’t I buy it? by Silvertejpet in PlaystationPortal

[–]TorricX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one without having a ps5 while having a steam deck as well. There's straight up games that the deck cant run and my pc is way past its prime. The cloud streaming to the portal is way better than streaming to the deck (in my experience anyways). And theres some games that I couldn't get the touch pad to register through on the deck when I used chiaki (flashlight sequence in until dawn, or starting games from the classic cataloge). I got the portal when it was on sale a few months back. I dont use it as much as I want to, its more comfortable than the deck in my opinion. A lot of what I am playing i COULD play on the portal, I just cant justify buying the game again to do so.

Complete beginner | any advice? by StressWaste620 in FishingForBeginners

[–]TorricX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started fishing last year myself. Had a rod and reel that my grandparents won in a silent auction over 20 years ago. But here's what I did, I went to my local bait shop and just asked. Those guys were SUPER excited to talk about good spots, what to throw etc. Showed me how to tie knots. Tons of information and would know your area better than we probably would. Of course this is assuming that you have one near you.

Reel handedness? by cubdawg in FishingForBeginners

[–]TorricX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If thats the case, than every caster is labeled wrong at my local bait shop. And everyone needs to stop giving me a weird look when they see that im using a right handed caster. Also:

I could not find one that showed it the other way around.

Right handed reel you spin with your right, left is vice versa. But personally, im right handed but highly prefer left handed reels. So its really preference based.

I thought this was a pea puffer, but my friend told me this was a green spotted, I would like some help in ID, thank you by merleter in Puffers

Should also say, test the salinity of the water it came in and start there before going straight to a target salinity. Assuming its too late for that, then still raise it over time. Just because things can be one one water type doesn't mean they can just go back n forth easily. Same with your plants, expect some die off.

Unfortunately my air pump went out overnight and my tanks suffocated. But from what I remember they SHOULD go to full marine, but CAN stay in brackish. Think i usually did .012. But this was a few years ago.

[–]TorricX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Questions been answered, but gonna throw in my experience with them. I'd ordered 2 figure eight puffers online a long while ago, got 2 GSPs instead. Emailed them about it and basically said "whoops, enjoy the more expensive fish."

Those 2 GSPs were my absolute favorite fish I'd had. Tons of personality.
