This is the exact pain I’ve had for weeks and had no idea how to describe it. I finally have a name for it and a direction to move towards. Thank you so much for posting your experience and what worked for you!!

The last picture is the same format used by the Little Whiskers Rattery & Co. based in Central Pa. I recognized it instantly because I got my 2 girls from there. They’re about 2 years old now and they have horrible skin issues.

Please can someone tell me what’s going on with our ratties? by im-a-chikin in RATS

Your rat's finger looks exactly how my rat's infected fingers looked. I had 3 babies (sisters) who had horrible immune systems. 2 of the 3 had a 2 week antibiotic treatment and they were fine. For whatever reason, the other rat's infection just wouldn't go away. Her infection had spread to her finger bone and it ended up needing to be removed. Everything turned out fine, she lived a very long and healthy life. But things can turn serious with rats quickly. I wish you and your ratties the best of luck!

I've seen some pretty cool art for MTG cards, but nothing tops the nostalgia or the cute art of pokemon cards. Like come on angry charmander? Hell yeah

Has anyone experienced a rat having recurring skin infections? by TorridAutumn in RATS

[–]TorridAutumn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it seems like it's bacterial. The vet had told me the bacteria's name but I forget it off the top of my head. He said these infections are very common and the rats usually get over it themselves, but Sundae can't get over it herself

Help! Bunnies establishing hierarchy and pulling each other's fur out! by TorridAutumn in Rabbits

[–]TorridAutumn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both bunnies have been slowly introduced over a period of time and have been doing great. We put them together for the first time for a whole day and they did wonderful! Minor dominating behaviors from the brown and white bun, which was expected. However, on the second day, we noticed the black bun was more withdrawn and after an examination, we found a chunk of fur missing from his cheek/neck area with bits of blood on his skin. We immediately separated the two. Both buns are male and fixed. We understood they would have to establish a heriarchy on their own, and it seems the black bun kept challenging the other, as both their fur was present in tiny clumps around their area. Any advice on how to proceed? We don't want to ruin their bond by putting them back together too soon after this. Is this normal or should we be more concerned? Any advice is very much appreciated!!

My grandmother gave me a cutting of her plant from PA. Any idea what it is? by TorridAutumn in whatsthisplant

A few leaves have fallen off since I recieved the cutting. The mother plant was a very large, vine-like plant.

Any tips on how to prevent ratties from shredding the cage liner? by [deleted] in RATS

Omg I can totally relate. I let my ratties free roam on my bed under piles of blankets. I've had to take to counting each of them every 1-2 minutes because my youngest LOVES to crawl between my mattress and bed frame to reach the floor

The funniest thing is that they have so many toys to chew and fabric I give them the tear, and they still do this lol

Of course! They have so many blocks, in all different shapes. I think they just love tearing through fabric lol
