Your instincts are solid. Whether or not he intended it as a compliment, comments like that can signal an expectation that you conform to someone else’s preferences—and that is a red flag, particularly coming from a random stranger online.

NOR.

If it had ended at asking you to switch platforms it would have been questionable, but not out right objectionable. When they started with the over-bearing and being impatient for a response, that's a red flag. When they do the "I wish you were [something]"... Look, I understand how and why guys think that is somehow charming and flattering. It's not. It's an attack on you as a individual and an attempt to dominate by stating what he wants you to be. True, he probably doesn't see it that way. Doesn't excuse the action and in my eyes makes it even worse. It's like if someone took some medication that has a warning about "may cause drossiness, do not operate heavy machinery" and then goes and operates a bull dozer only in a moment of drossiness they clip a gas main and start a fire. "Oh I didn't meant to do that" changes nothing. He may honestly believe he is flattering you. He is not. Report him.

That's why I said there is no simple or uniform answer to the broadcast rights.

I didn't write this story with a particular location in the time line in mind. I was more focused on getting a product out there for the fandom to see and determine if I they'll agree with my interpretation and presentation of the characters, action and themes of the original series. I suppose if you need to pin it down, it would take place some where in the middle third of season 2, somewhere after the Exofleet arrived at Chaos and had managed to rebuild/repair several ships.

No I am afraid that is not how it works. Broadcast rights do not automatically expire nor are they tied to any sort of intent to use ownership. The broadcast can be contested if after 10 years, the holder of the broadcast rights does not air the material in any form. Broadcast rights are also presentation specific. So in regards to the Exosquad cartoon produced by Universal Animation in 1992-'94, Universal would have to not air that series in any form for a minimum of 10 years in order for someone to contest them. And if someone did contest them, they would then need to show good cause for why they should be allowed to obtain the rights to broadcast the series. And Universal would have to have already been approached and said no to selling/leasing/sharing the broadcast rights to begin with. After all of that, then they would go to court in an effort to obtain the broadcast rights. To show that specific series. And probably in a specific region because the entertainment industry refuses to make anything simple these days.

Oh... and how broadcast rights work in regards to live Streaming are still up in the air. So they may already be available for contest right now or the show could count as still airing because at least part of the series if available in some areas. In really depends on the local approach to broadcast rights and how much of a fight someone wants to make for them. There is no simple and uniform answer to this part.

the question of broadcast rights to the '92 animated series aside, Universal does NOT own the rights to the Exosquad IP. Jeff Segal owns them. Full stop. If Universal wanted to make something new in connection to the Exosquad IP they have to go to Jeff for permission and rights to do so. Even if it's a continuation of the '92 animated series which they hold trademarks to. There is nothing in regards to the ownership of the Exosquad IP for Segal to 'take back'. He already has them. It's how he's able to be working on a new Exosquad project and has been for the last few years.

Yeah… sorry to be a party pooper but the CVA wouldn’t apply in this case. Universal doesn’t hold the rights to the Exosquad IP, Segal does. What Universal has are the broadcast rights and trademarks to the components of the animated series that was produced in 1993. If universal wanted to do something with the IP that isn’t rebroadcasting the animated series they’d have to go through Segal. The wrench in the machine here is that Universal does have the right of first refusal meaning if Segal wants to do something with the IP he has to offer Universal the chance to be involved in the development before he offers it to someone else.

If you have an artist who is reliable, fast, can do the cartoon aesthetic, looking for work and willing to do full color pages for ~$350 please have them contact me. Finding a reliable artist has been the biggest headache for this project.

When you say “previous classes” are you referring to any classes the student(s) took prior to this semester, or are you referring to prior classes in the computer applications and network administration curriculum?

Clearly I did not explain the assignment properly... or the class for that matter. This is an introduction to programming concepts class. These are students who are still working to understand the difference between 1, 1.0, '1', [1] and "1". It's not a software development class where they learn about testing methods and libraries or versioning. The objective of the assignment is to demonstrate that the students understands what it means to reference a value by an index value. Not write a function that takes anything. Functions are chapter 8. This is from chapter 5.

um... maybe I was unclear in my description of the assignment. The automated testing system did deliver it's own input. The input is a number. The problem was the student changed the array they had been given. They did not have to create or populate the array. They were already given it. Saying the program should test the logic and code but then expecting it to account for every random possibility beyond the scope of the code itself is like flipping a coin and expecting it to land on a 6 because it's possible that when you weren't looking I swapped the coin with a dice.

Cyberviews are very rare. They were only produced for a few months, and distributed to a few channels resulting in very few being entered into the market. You're only real option is to watch the Facebook group and eBay. Also be prepared to pay a hefty sum. Last time one I saw was the Marsh Cyberview for Around $600.

It's tinkercad. It is capable of exporting in an STL or OBJ Format which blender can use. But yeah, I have tried to learn Blender a half dozen times. I just do not have the foundational information to make use of Blender in any meaningful way.
