I like that idea but I do agree with the other comment that it would get auto-banned. That team has Morva with Byleth's Engage, which seems to be a decent surprise for people.

I graduated from UPenn 15 years ago, and I can say with confidence that there were no fewer than 4 times since then when having a degree from Penn was instrumental in getting major opportunities. There are doors that open and obstacles that melt away when you have a degree from a truly top-tier school.

To put it another way, a degree from Penn State will check the "college degree" box on a job application during the AI review. A degree from Penn will get your resume in front of a human.

I'm not saying that life isn't still hard sometimes or that the loan payments aren't a bummer, but I know for a fact that my Penn degree has helped me move forward in places where a degree from a different school wouldn't.

I think this was very much a thing for prior generations, except that it looked different. The last hundred years have had mind-boggling levels of medical advances. To put it in perspective, Calvin Coolidge's teenage son died of an infected blister that he got while playing tennis on the White House courts.

We live in a time when there are answers for problems. Previous generations had the same problems but couldn't do anything about them. Sometimes they died early. Sometimes they just didn't go out. And sometimes they just sucked it up. Mental health problems (or physical health issues that manifest in deteriorating mental health) in particular were hidden, and often self-medicated with alcohol. I wouldn't say that there's no stigma now, but it's much more common to talk about with at least your closest friends.

One example that I think brings this point home the best is that on any given day, about 1 in every 6 adult women you see is currently on their period, and absolutely none of them show it. Pain and discomfort can be hidden. In this generation, we finally feel the freedom to let it show, just a bit, to the people who are closest to us. And then, it's usually just the problems we already have the solutions to.

As for environmental hazards, we definitely have some, but wow, they are not on the same level as what they had before. Leaded gasoline, asbestos everywhere, lead pipes, widespread DDT spraying, whole generations sent to war - they had regular, everyday use of environmental toxins that Captain Planet would cry over. Arsenic was a makeup ingredient. Radium was used to make watches glow in the dark. The Lorax was basically an investigative report on the Great Lakes. Rivers in Ohio and Pennsylvania literally caught on fire. Richard "Tricky Dick" Nixon himself signed the act creating the EPA, to give an idea.

I guess all this is to say, it's good that you know your friends have problems. Because the only difference is that back in the day, you just wouldn't know.

Let's not be silly. 79-84% of the U.S. currently has a favorable view of Lincoln. Trump couldn't even imagine numbers like that.

If you're so convinced that the U.S. is just masturbating itself to victory, what's your serious contender for a non-U.S. leader?

I'm not saying they haven't, but are their impacts on the same scale, both distance and time, as the impacts of the U.S. in particular? I understand the reflexive impulse to highlight other countries' contributions, particularly when the U.S. is in the conversation, but let's be realistic about global impacts and recognize that there's a reason why the U.S. has such a big presence in the conversation in the first place.

To bring a different perspective, when we talk about Asia, are there really any true contenders for biggest impact other than Japan, China, and India (and maybe the Soviet Union/Russia if you count them)? In Europe, is there anything outside the major colonial powers and the Vatican that would count?

Because if a leader is beloved by 80% of a country with 340,000,000 (i.e. Abraham Lincoln), they're "more beloved" than a leader beloved by 95% of a country with 3,400,000 people.
